How is the pull of the G37 coupe 7AT?

I'm going to be upgrading from a 04 civic AT to the G37 AT sport/premium soon (the 2010 model). My civic only has 129 hp and like 120 torque so i know it'll be a difference making upgrade but how is the pull of the G37 coupe AT? For example if i was in DS going lets say 35mph then all of a sudden i stepped on the gas pedal 80% of the way or even all the way will i feel like my head shoot back or what? This is really what i'm looking for so that it can be a fun car and i won't regret it. I was also looking at the 335i to get more of this pull effect but the 335i is more expensive with less features. So can anyone tell me how the pull is for the G37? thx in advance

Take a test drive or you can even rent one in some cities. I've owned dozens of cars, personal and business from 240Z's to a 10 second Hemi car, and I'm very happy with the balance and perfomance my G provides as a DD.
The BMW is a nice car too. Some folks need that badge, and will do with a bit less or pay a bit more for it as a similar mid-cost sport car.

The best way to find out is to test drive. what feels fast to some may not feel fast to others.

The powerband is very linear. SO you wont really get that head snappping feel per se. But there is plenty of power there and it will feel more powerful than the average car on the road.

Talking

Cars are built so solid today its hard to feel that pull ur talking about. I think the best way to feel the G forces in a car are 2 ways. Open tops cuz ur not enclosed in a enviorment and G forces will peak effecting ur body. ( I personally hate the look of convertibles)
The next way is a turbo. And when I say turbo I don't mean 2 low-mid range turbos
I mean 20psi+ boosts... this is really the only way to get that chest caving in head thrown back feeling. Oh and lastly. 1000 non aspirated horses. Don't kno where to get that though. Lol
One thing is a promise. 330 hp vs 120hp. Ur gonna feel the difference regardless. But its possible in a small car with crappy suspension like a civic u might feel like ur going faster. U get that effect better in small compact cars. But the overall package. U come out winning in a G.
I would test drive the Z, G, evo and wrx sti and make my decision from there.
Feature wise those cars won't compare. But they sound more like the driving experience ur looking for. 11k will get u 2 turbos in a G. U can wind up the boost and get that feeling u want too. But its gonna cost $$$$

Torque curve is flat, power curve is linear, so theres no VTEC kicking in yo business

Take her out for a spin though

compared to your civic, a g37 will feel like a rocket ship. It's not turbo like the 335 so dont expect a sudden jolt of speed but it moves

what are y'all talking about?! I own a 2009 G37x 7AT sedan, and you feel the pull, even at only 20% more pedal. It downshifts instantly, and continue to pull strongly as revs build. The most fun is to stomp on the gas from a complete stop. Press the pedal *fast* at maybe 40%. First time I tried it, the back of my head literally banged against the head rest. I was surprised, wasn't expecting such an instant response. The car response is so sharp and quick that I haven't felt the need to rev above 5000rpm yet, maybe never will.

Imagine how your civic feels when you floor it going 40 and it downshifts to second. Now, imagine that feeling being there anytime you push the gas pedal even slightly, even at 80.

That is the difference. Like everyone else says, go drive the car.

335i will pull harder, no question. But the G pulls plenty hard, believe me....

I didn't know there was sport package for AWD coupe. Is it new for 2010, or I just did not know that??

What is the difference between the regular AWD coupe and AWD coupe + sport?

You guys are talking about the kick from the downshift.. even his civc can do that

I'm talking about being say in 2nd at 2k rpm then flooring it all the way to 7.5k rpm

Power will come in smooth, unlike it would've came in say an Evo or Sti

This is the exact problem if thats what you want to call it when i went test driving cars. I came from an Audi A3 that I had tuned. The numbers all told me that G37 is a faster car with listed 1/4 mile times in the 13s. The fastest my A3 ever got was a 14.2 but it feels faster because of the pull of 20lbs of boost.

Well comparing the two vehicles you mentioned

335i - Much more throw back in your seat feeling, cause of the turbo/torque.

G37 - Not much of that thrown back feeling, because of the lack of torque/turbo, but you know it's moving it.(If you add a turbo then it will be more of the 335i and then some)

Either way you can't go wrong.

I'm not sure if the OP is looking for acceleration / pull or whiplash? 0-60 and 1/4 compare acceleration between cars no? Turbo or no, you get there first, you have more overall acceleration. "Whiplash" from say an 800HP big block that is freewheeling at say 2,000RPM then goes WOT to 7,000RPM and locks up with the wheels, via dumping a clutch or a modified AT value body is maybe more what he is looking for?
