Of course you would say something like that...I expect that from somebody from LA G, who apparently has other members of his club ripping off other members of this community forum with fraudulent sales transactions! Its a shame that the G got so much cheaper in the last few years.....they let anybody purchase this car now.......(hahahaha)

I am also a little over 2 years at almost 16K miles and I still get that giddy feeling every time I approach the car (a good thing!) and I thoroughly enjoy the ride each day. I think the overall concept is great and I am verry happy with the car. My wife tells me once in a while, stop obsessing, it's just a car......no door dings, yet!

The majority of my service visits were for minor issues, like re-programming TSB for surge when braking (really just an annoyance--cured now), lubing the rear axle for clicking (another annoyance--cured now), and others were just me being a perfectionist while under warranty like having them replace the driver seat leather for premature wear, a noise in the driver power window regulator, and replacing the front brake pads per TSB.

I must say that the thing that I really worry about is the VVEL noise issue. I did the TSB re-programming and ester oil but I still occasionally get the noise. I know that Infiniti says not to worry, but I still do, since a problem with the valve train in 6 or 7 years will surely be a costly fix (I own this car and intend to keep it a long time). My gut tells me the engineering for VVEL setup is still on the learning curve. It also tells me that any abnormal engine noises usually mean a wear factor is happening; but I am not an engineer!

22K miles and no issues that weren't my fault (like tampering with the Nav or curb rash).

Great car and I've previously owned BMW, Honda, Mazda, Toyota, Chevy, Ford, etc.

Very very true....the valve train noise, and the noise that the tranny makes in neutral idle always concerned me, and will only get worse....I also believe that the noise is indicitive of some type of wear issues on rotating parts....my past of building honda motors tought me that one!

Hate to tell you this zesus, but your beloved BMWs are getting cheaper as all German cars are. German car makers have never been able to achieve the reliability ratings compared to their Japanese counterparts. If you did your homework, you'd know this already.

I understand...All points well considered....but given the economy, all cars are getting cheaper due to cost of manufacturing....so i will take my chances....I can not fully say that I did not purchase a BMW solely for performance and reliability, theres a certain respect and implication of higher status you have when driving one....plus the Euro-tuner shows are way better than all the ghetto HIN/lowrider shows that I have been to...thats IMO....plus also the community seems way more helpful....

Will be 2 years with the G for me next month. Only had her to the dealer for the muffler and throttle blip TSBs.

I think you got the lease/buy thing backwards. You should have leased the BMW and bought the G. I assume you are going to hold on the BMW past the warranty...good luck!

Sorry to hear your troubles with the G. So far, my experience with this car has been excellent. Only thing i could mention as an issue is the seat bubbling that almost everyone is experiencing here. I own the car for 22 months and have over 63,000 miles on it. As you can see, I drive this car a lot! To be honest with u, IMO, seat bubble issue is not an real issue at all. That kind of defect exists on almost every brand out there. But totally understand your frustration about all these problems with your car. But there is one thing I know for sure is that there are no 0-issue brands out there.
I hope your new ride will give you more satisfaction than G did. Cool thing about that is always fun to get a new ride!

But I have to disagree with u on this one:
"...theres a certain respect and implication of higher status you have when driving one..."

IMHO, this illusion of "higher status", is a creation of some BMW owners. Don't get me wrong, BMW's are great cars. Great performance, quality, design, etc. But they are too far from being " ultimate driving machines." They have flaws like every other brand out here. I don't see any benefit of that respect gained by what kind of car I own or I drive. Some people likes to think that owning a BMW is a privilege and make them feel like they own the best car on the road. Again this is my opinion, I mean no disrespect to any BMW owner.
My sister-in-law owns a loaded 2009 750 Li and its really a great car.
I started to see more and more BMW's out there everyday. Almost more than Hondas and Toyotas. So for me,to own a less common car is a plus.
But all of these things are truly one man's opinion. In the the end, You should drive what you like and what gives you the most satisfaction for your money. And looks like this is exactly what you are doing.
Congratulations on your new ride.

Higher status... level of respect? Unless you're driving a car worth over $60k, the only people you're going to impress are ghetto birds or those who are clueless about car valuations, neither of which you should care about impressing anyway.

Maybe it's just me, but why is there a slight bit of animosity towards you for sharing your personal experience?

Your experience sounds awful and would probably drive me away from Inifniti too but I think on average (just based on the forum alone), people seem to be pretty happy with their G. Sorry about your loss. But hopefully you'll still hang around the forum even after your 335 arrives

It's kinda funny because I guess I'm a little bit opposite from the OP. The stigma that BMW carries, is what makes me NOT want to get a BMW. Though, admittedly it is the next natural progression in my car ownership. Still! I don't want a BMW but it doesn't seem like there's much out there after the G.

LOL, the animosity probably came from me ripping some fellow forum members to shreds on here a few months back, getting banned, then coming back....lol All these guys see a post that strikes up some kind of neo-homosexual emotion with them and thier G, they researched my past posts and then they try and rip me up a bit....They then they catch feelings when I either A.)After an exchange of insults, I suggest coming to a major car show in the area and putting thier forum name, with a sticker, on thier car somewhere so I can speak with them personally. or B.) Rip them to shreds on here....saying things that most were probably thinking...

And UCLA of course everybody on this forum is going to be happy with the G....this forum is not an accurate representation of the entire population of G owners out there that are happy with thier cars.....the ones that hate thier G's may simply not be interested in a forum like this....who knows.

btw I was giving my opinnion on how our G's should have been respected, and not ghetto'd out with headlight Ironman treatments, excessive l.e.d.s, cheap parts, or tinted tail lights.. when i got in trouble on here....

And I was also making fun of all the tarts that took like 50 pics of thier stock cars, posted pics, then oooooohed and aaaaaahed over a stock G....so rediculous...oh and that kid with the red painted front grill!!! OMFG he should still have his car taken and burned in front of him....
\
But yeah thanks for the well wishes!!!!! lol
