Talking New Owner

Hi guys

Took delivery on a Black 2009 G37S coupe yesterday. Fully loaded. Absolutely love this car. Will take pictures as soon as i can get all the adhesive residue off the paint. Anyone have some pointers on getting this glue off??

Why is there residue on the paint? Did they not perform a new car prep at the dealer?

They did wash it and take most of the residue off, but i noticed A LOT on the hood and i'm having a difficult time getting it off.

I had the same thing with that adhesive residue on the car, thought it was scratches at first...

I did not want to take it back to the dealer given all the horror stories everyone has about dealers detailing. I used goof off, put a little on a cotton cloth and LIGHTLY (very little if any pressure at all) wipe on the area with the residue, make sure the car is semi-clean at least and let the goof off do the work. Took it right off. Then washed the car and then sealed it with Opti-Seal, stuff is awsome!

Welcome to the forum.

Shouldn't that be the dealers problem to handle, getting all that residue off ur car.

I agree with you...i am not taking my car to the dealer to get it detailed. They don't properly wash the vehicle, they just give it swirls.

I'll try the goof off. Thank you!

Make sure you rewax or seal the paint. My guess is anything strong enough to remove the residue can remove wax too.

Welcome on board and as you said, never let your dealer wash your car.
