Over 40 years of driving in So. Cal. both company cars and personal, I have rarely had a front plate. I was written up only once for no front plate. That was when I was pulled over for 95+ on the 14 freeway out toward Lancaster CA. The officer stated to me and my passenger that he positively identified the (speeder's) Z car via the front plate... I then confessed to him that I didn't have one. ;-) It was a fix it ticket.
Sidebar: I've driven several modified Z cars and even a 10 second Hemi GTX as daily drivers without harassment... When I've driven reasonably, I've found the Cops to be reasonable too. ;-)

Two best reasons to get a DUI are no front plate and side tinted windows. Something to keep in mind, even if you drive after just a few beers.

 

Never drink, so DUI certainly not a problem
