15k maintenance
hey guys,
i was going to take my car in for the 15k maintenance service but after hearing i have to pay $450 for it, i was like , im not paying almost $500 for a infiniti mechanic to inspect my tires and exhaust, what are the important thing that i would have to get checked out? a oil change is a must im guessing and so is filling up all the fluids, what else?
thanks

the only additional thing you have to do is the cabin air filter which is no big deal. I changed mine out at 15k and the cabin filter still looks clean. It's nothing compared to the one at the service dealers desk trying to freak you out how dirty it gets.
Save the money and do it yourself.
Shoot I did my 30k myself and saved a grip. I inspected my serpentine drive belt and still looks good so I didn't bother changing it. even the service guy at the Inifiniti dealer looked at it and stated it was still good when they did the complimentary inspection when the serviced my squealling brakes.

I just had my 15K service last week and skipped the $500 option/inspection. All they did was an oil change and the normal inspection - every single item was good with the exception of the air and cabin filters, which they recommend might need changing in the near future (no surprise there).
At 30K, I will go for the full service for piece of mind.
fmrlegend - did you change the cabin filter yourself, and if so, did you have to remove the glove box?

I don't agree with changing the cabin filter so soon (@ 15,000) unless it's been 2 years or you spend hours a day in your vehicle. I didn't change mine out on my G35 until almost 40,000 and half of those miles I smoked in my car until I quit. It's kind of a pain to get too, do we have DIY here, anyone interested in putting one together that would be great!

yes i did change mine out myself. and i did remove the glove box. it took me about 15 minutes to take the filter out, but after knowing how, it should have taken like 2 minutes.
there's a procedure on this some where on here, that's where i got it.

I just went to the dealership for my 15k service, its good that the oil change and rotation etc is complimentary as an incentive buying/leasing at the time I got it. But the service manager asked whether I wanna pay $200 for the in-cabin air filter and alignment, i said no i would do it elsewhere...

I no speak englis wery wel.....so here's an half-*** diy write up. I took pictures too but don't have time to dl etc. If needed I can try to post it next Monday.
This thing took me like an hour to figure out. Once again it should take me only like 15 minutes until I forget how to do it next time.
There are 7 screws total that needs to be removed.
4- on top
2- bottom corners
1- in the middle towards the right a bit.
After removing the 7 screws,
snap off the black plastic side triangular piece at the end
snap off the metal trim on top, starting on the right end and working your way to the middle
the right side of the box should come off easy, but the left side gets a bit tricky.
there's nothing left to hold the box in, so just wiggle it out
once the box is out, there's a white air box with a rectangular door ~1.5"x6" held in place by clips. remove that door and the filter is inside. pay attention to the orientation of the door when you take it off.
once filter is replaced back, push the filter up so the door can be put back.
pay attention to the clips of the 4 screw on top which may become lose or fallen off when installing the box back in.
now go backwards to put things back
hope this helps.
