"Range" miles until empty question

I just got my G37S coupe and got about 500 miles on it. Last week was the first time that I had to get gas. So the dashboard started flashing at me and told me that I had about 30-32 miles until empty (or so I thought). So I figured that I had plenty of time to get gas, then after traveling 5 miles on the highway later and I looked down, to my surprise, it had 0 miles in the dashboard instead of the 30 miles a few minutes earlier.

So naturally I pulled off and found the nearest gas station that I could find. But on the way to the gas station, that number went up to 12 miles. And then when I got gas, I only got about 17-18 gallons, and I read in the manual that the G37S coupe has a 20-gallon tank.

So my questions are:
1) does the range mileage number goes up and down depending how fast/hard you are driving? Sort of that like real-time MPG gauge?
2) when the range mileage number goes to 0, does that mean it still has about 2 gallons left in the tank (reserve?) and I don't have to freak out and find the nearest gas station?

1) yes
2) yes

It will sometimes go to 0 and them back up if you slow down and drive in a way that gets better mileage. It's not 100% accurate and there's a "fudge" factors built in do you font run empty. After it says ------ I can tylucslly go another 40 miles I'd more driving conservatively.

Let me just owned myself for being a lazy bum: https://www.myg37.com/forums/g37-cou...age-range.html

But that's what I thought, with 2 gallons left in the reserve tank after it tells me 0 miles to go, I can go at least another 30 miles or so.

About 30 miles is correct, I wouldn't push it much further.

Just don't make it a habit of waiting until the last second. You don't want to be pushing your fat @$$ G to the nearest gas station.

Haha thanks for the advice. Since last week was the first time that I had to get gas, I was freaking out a bit when it told me I had 0 miles to go (not knowing that it still had 2 gallons left). I thought it meant like ZERO miles to go. So I immediately started yelling at my GPS for the nearest gas station

You can find the nearest gas station on the Nav even while moving.

Yeah thank God. How you have to rip music to the Music Box is probably one of the most retarded things I've seen so far.

Meh, for me it was about 2.5 gallons. Not that big of a difference unless you're really wanting to cut it as close as possible
