Fuel Mileage Range

I filled my tank today and the Range for miles until empty said 240. If that were the case I would only be getting 12 miles to a gallon since it has a 20 gallon tank. Does the range calculator base the Range of miles left in the tank on your current driving style at that moment? Does it update when driving on the freeway instead of city? Haven't been on the intestate yet.

Thanks for any responses

it changes to how you drive just give it a minute or so when you change your style it wil update your milage and if you were in the city and then driving on a highway for example your milage would jump up if you're not driving like an a$$ and also if you went from the highway to the city it would drop just switch up your style of driving and you will notice the range of miles jump or drop depending

It will slowly increase if you improve your driving habits. I usually have around 280 when I fill up, 18.1mpg is my average. If I hope on the highway right after I fill up it will jump up to 300 in about 10 minutes.

i have driven a couple extended trips already, (200 plus miles each way), i have seen my range as high as 360 even after driving 50-60 miles on the tank. on the highway, im seeing about 23.5-24.5, in town about 15-16 which has averaged out to about 21ish combined. i currently have about 2100 miles on the car, the MPG for the first 500-600 miles i drove was sigificantly less then what i am seeing now. i also noticed that the low fuel warning seems to come on pretty early. it told me that i had 0 miles to go and when i filled up it only took 17.8. its a manual.

I only have about 200 miles on mine right now so I am guessing this will change some after break in. I guess its not really accurate to just take the given range and divide by 20 since their is always 2-3 gallons left when the range reaches zero.

I was starting to get concerned when my range said 240 after a fill then it dropped to 215 after a few short trips around town. Going to be driving about 600 miles in the next few days so hopefully I see a drastic change onthe highway.

The distance to empty isn't based on your driving style. It is calculated by the MPG you are getting right now and the amount of fuel in your tank. It does not factor in a "reserve" amount of fuel of about 2 gallons. If you are highway cruising at about 60 MPH, reset it on the fly (press the button to the left of the steering column on the bottom with the white dot while on the MPG screen in the info center), and you will notice that after it resets it will show a very high MPG after about 1 minute. Scroll through and check the Range screen and you will notice that it's much higher now. they all update every minute or so. Floor it and waste lots of gas and watch it drop along with your MPG. It's a good way to monitor and optimize fuel consumption.

wouldn't that button be to the RIGHT of the steering column?

Ya i have noticed that too. It is very conservative in its range. Also I have noticed that the range drops faster once you get below 50 miles left. A couple of times it has gone from 50 to 0 miles in only 10 to 15 miles of drive at a constant speed.

It's not accurate. Once mine read around 320 miles and then less than a mile it drop lower.

it all depends on how you drive... ^ if it reads 320 and then you lay on the throttle of course its going to go down quicker... and if it reads 320 and your cruising city streets when you hop on the free way it will stay what its at for longer or possibly go up...

+1. When I fill up the dte is around 280-290 when I have an indicated 19 mpg. We have a 20 gallon tank give or take 1-2 gallons.

Nope. I routinely get 400+ miles to a tank and I average around 21-22 mpg in daily driving....
