Too weird this exact same thing happened to me today as well. I was at my business doing paperwork in my office which is very close to my parking spot outside. One of my employees knocks on my door and says my windows were left open. Right away i knew it must have been the remote in my pocket. We just started getting snow here as well and there were a couple of inches in my car.

I hope you didn't wait to brush it off before it melt.

Man I hate that happened to you, but at least it was just snow and not a pouring t-storm flood type rain like we get here sometimes because you might have got back to water running out the windows.
