Sport Package better acceleration/launch algorithms?
I test drove both a '09 G37 with nav and no sport and without nav with sport. For some reason the '09 non-sport model felt way slower. Is this due to more aggressive launch/acceleration timings with the sport? I know that the limiter is increased to 155 with the sport option. I thought the sport model with the 7AT was quite on par with the BMW 335i and the G37 non-sport felt more like an Audi A5. And no this couldn't be a placebo effect because I test drove them on different occasions and didn't even realize the car with the Nav didn't have sport until half way into the test drive.
The 6MT feels more like a SPORTS car!
Seriously, I don't believe the non-sport and sport have any difference whatsoever in their launch/acceleration timing. To the best of my knowledge, the only difference is in their suspension, tires, and appearance. The suspension and tires could have made it feel as though the acceleration were better, but not considerably.
Someone here could correct me if I'm wrong though....

The sport may be a bit faster because it's got paddle shifters. Though, that's just because you do it faster, and not because the gear change times are different between the manual and automatic. I could be wrong, but that's how I understand it.
The sport is maybe 1 or 2 tenths faster at the most, and that's in the hands of a good driver.

Is there different drive settings such as 'Normal', 'Sports' and 'Sports+' like the Porshe? I was thinking that the Standard G is running on an ECU with the normal settings and 'S' model using a sports setting with wider open throttles.
