More front plate questions
I've read the following thread and just have a couple of questions/comments
https://www.myg37.com/forums/showthr...5693&highlight
OK, so I live in LA and I have no experience with having no front plates. I'm wondering what the real danger is in not having it on. Can they only give you a ticket when they are pulling you over for something else as well?
I have 20% tint all around (illegal in CA) on my e90 right now and in the three years I've had the car I've not been once pulled over for tint. If it were allowed to give tickets solely for tint, parking enforcement would be handing out tickets left and right. But I've NEVER seen or experienced a parking enforcement officer giving a ticket for tint on a parked vehicle.
So basically, if the law is similar to what the law is for tint, I will take my chances and have no front plate. Is this pretty much the case? Enforcement of tint law is similar to front plate law?
Thanks in advance.

As I said in the other thread, I don’t believe it’s wise to drive around with illegal mods and/or no front plate where required, because you can be ticketed for other things in addition to the original violation. That can include your car being impounded and your being hauled off to jail for having one too many beers at that party you’re coming home from.
Now you will surely get many responses here that assert, “I’ve driven cars with no front plate for 25 years and have never been pulled over.” Of course, there’s always the Captain of the Titanic who sailed ships across the Atlantic for 30 years and never hit an iceberg—until that one time.

In the city of L.A. and especially in Beverly Hills, the meter maids will give you tickets solely for not having the front plate when parked on the street in metered spots. Also, if you park for any length of time in the garages at LAX, you'll likely have a ticket for no front plate when you get back.
I know people without front plates with no tickets, and those that do.

Granted I'm in Ohio, but I haven't had a front plate on my previous G or on my current 335. I was doing fine with it until I was going down a back road at 3am one night, not speeding. Passed a state trooper who turned around and pulled me over solely to write me a warning for no front plate. Not that I've put one on since.
Overall, I think that since its techically against the law to not have one, if they're bored or its 3am and they aren't doing anything else they can pull you over solely for that. Plus, at 3am its a good excuse to make sure you aren't drunk.
