For The 2009 Buyers!!
I am trying to decide between the two also. The big difference is that I live in NJ where it can snow quite a bit. It's just that the AWD lacks a lot of the goodies of the S, 19" wheels, better brakes, paddle shifter, sport seats and a better suspension.
I am wondering should I just get the S and get all season tires?

What can you swap over, you can't add paddle shifters, who wants to rip out the seats, and the spoiler is probably a pain to do to because you have to buy one and make sure it is put on right.
Let me clear things up for some people.
X = AWD so G37X is only available in AWD. It comes only with the 7AT (which is Automatic.. for you noobies) It is not available in 6MT.
S = Sport so G37S is the sport model which has sport tuned suspensions, sport aerodynamic kit and 19" sport wheels. The S package will also have the 7AT available and also will have 6MT. The 6MT models only comes RWD as AWD is not available for it.
Is there a G37xS? A: No, as of right now Infiniti decided that the G37X will not be available with a sports package.
Will there be a G37xS? A: Later on there is a possibility.

Oh yeah; just grab a red "S" off another Infiniti or a Corolla.
Well here is the thing. I would prefer the S, but there is some snow here in the NYC area I have to drive through. I live in a townhouse and don't have space for a winter set of wheels and tires.
Can I get away with all seasons on the S or should I just get the AWD ?

Oh yeah...forgot about that one MAJOR detail.....
A strong one...the G35xS was released a year after the regular G35S....I say wait a year and see...

Yes, you can get away with all season tires but it depends on how much you drive and where you drive. Good all season tires, which are good in snow don't have as good performance as summer tires in the summer. The best thing to do if you have a sports package is to get summer wheels and the winter wheels. That's what I'm planning on doing for November and I live Upstate so there's a lot more snow over here that's the main reason why I need snow tires. It's all up to you.
There was a person selling his sport seats a few months ago:

Seeing all this talk about the 09 makes me sad. I won't have the newest thing anymore
. But just as soon as I replace those door handles with some washi aluminum I will!

With the possible exception of the tighter steering package and brakes.. not much fuss with the later but not cheap either. Most S owners on here are swapping out suspension and wheels though.
being from Boston I am waiting for the AWD. I have seen many RWD cars eat the big one in the snow. My dad drives and 07 sl500, which I'd assume would be better than infinity and he says it sucks *** in the snow and can't even drive it during the winter.

you're from LA...go with the S.

EDIT: I don't care much about the suspension package or that crap as I plan on dropping it anyways.
