climate control not so good?

i just noticed today when my gf told me.

she likes it warm and i like it cold...so she always turns her side up and i always have mine 73-60....well she asked me today Why does 89 & 90 degrees feel sooo hot compared to like 88 or 87 degrees...

well i tried it out today and noticed it too...when set on 87 degrees to me with AC on and Recirculation, it feels cool...but 89 degrees was really hot...tooo big of a difference for just 2 degrees

anyone else notice this?

Nam,

I'm pretty sure that nobody else using air conditioning has turned it up to 87. I like it warmer than most people and I've only managed to go up to 79. Have your girl go see a doctor.

same here....i never knew what it felt like cus i never turn it up that high...i was even giving her sh*t about it too....but she turned it up again today and grabbed my hand to put it up near the vent, thats when i noticed that even at 87 it blows cool air...similar to mine's that was set at 70...shouldnt it be like heater air at that temp? cus there's a really big difference from 87 to like 89 degrees

There might be an issue with to much of a difference between temps such as someone wanting cold and someone wanting heat which it sounds like this is the issue. Like running both AC and Heat in the house. Don't think it will work.

That's kind of what I was thinking too. Maybe the temps on each side need to be a little closer for the dual climates to regulate better.

so if i have my side on cold, like 60-65 and the passenger side at 87..the passenger side will feel cool too cus of the driver side being colder?

i dont get it cus at 89 & 90, it feels really hot on passenger side even if driver side is at 60

NAM, I guess I didn't read your post good enough. So it sounds like it is really hot at 89-90 but cold at 87 or lower, right? I have no answer for you, sorry. I might be able to test these tomorrow on my way to work to see if it is the same in my car.

yes...thats how it is

seems like there's really no transition between 87 to 90..it just goes from cold air to hot...as if there's no in between....87 on passenger side felt like 70 on driver side

Funny you mention this. I actually saw this the other day while I was driving around. It was hot, and I was driving back from Port Aransas. I don't like to have tons of AC blasting, so I tried to keep it just a few degrees lower than outside to keep the car cool, but not cold.

Well I noticed that at 87, the car was cold and a little too cold for my tastes. I then bumped it to 88, and noticed that the heater came on, and was blasting out HOT air. I think 87 is as high as you can go and still get "cold" air out of the vents, and 88+ is meant for heat. That's at least been my experience so far. Hope it helps.

Well I think your car is normal Nam because mine does the same thing. What I discovered is that 89 seems ot be the cutoff point. At 87 or 88 the air is kind of a neutral body temperature. At 89 it's blazing hot. I tested it on the way in to work today with the Recirculation open and closed. It was that way regardless of how warm or cool the other side it set.

I suppose 89 and 90 are just for when it's really cold out.

I don't know if it's just me, but I hardly set my A/C to auto because it's too frickin cold. Even auto @ 75 is way too cold for my taste.

I agree with you guys, the climate control doesn't seem that great. I remember in my old acura I'd just leave it at 74 all the time and it always kept the cabin a consistant temperature.... even slowing down the fans in the shade, and turning it up in the sun.

The Infiniti just seems to be on COLD all the time or HOT. The fans go up and down, but the temperature doesn't seem to change much no matter what the temperature control is set at.

One thing with you guys talking about the 87/88 cut off... out of curiousity when you are doing this what is the outside temp?

Maybe the computer just send cold air if inside cabin temp is set lower than outside, and warm air if inside cabin temp is set higher than outside temp?
