'08 G37S vs. '09 G37S

Hey guys, first timer here. I've been testing a few cars (G37 vs. is350 vs. 335) and I think the G37 won me over. Although the 350 and 335 are a bit faster, none of those cars can compete with the G's looks and interiors. Having said that, do you guys know of any specific changes/ modofications from the 08 to the 09. If they are exactly the same car I would go for the 08 as I assume it would be a few $$ cheaper than a 09.

Your thoughts/comments/advice are greatly appreciated.

Do a search. There is alot of info already on this. The biggest change is the switch to a 7AT in the Autos.

The 2009 G37 is getting a 7 speed automatic transmission, better paint, and a few other goodies. Unless you want a 6MT tranny, I say go for an 09 G37.

I did a little research in the web but couldn't find anything until I bumped with this forum. Just read the changes and I think I'll get the
09.

He means use the search feature on the toolbar above. The intent is to help reduce clutter across the forum.

If you're getting a 6MT, then you should do a case analysis of whether or not the extra features are worth the extra money. In your case, it would be:

- heated seat dials instead of the switch (IMO negligible)
- scratch shield paint (definitely nice, although its healing properties will subside in 3 years)
- auto door locks (there are 3rd party components you can install to automate the 08 locks, do a search on KP technologies...i plan on getting this myself)

Again, getting an 08 should save you a substantial chunk of cash since they won't budge on 09 pricing for a few months. Weigh it all out before making a decision.

I came from a 335i, and yes, the 335i is definately faster. The 350 however, seemed like a cow on wheels with poor navigation skills.

Yeah, I'd go for the '09. Unless cash is an issue but seeing how you were testing the 335 as well, it doesn't seem like cash is the 1st priority.

Even though the scratch shield will subdue in 3yrs, I'd take that over 3yrs of simple scratches without the shield.

round heated switch dials: uhhh, not a big deal.

Washi style interior door pull handles:Absolutely welcomed!!!! (current ones are crap!!!)

7AT: Nice add, should improve cruising mpg by 1-2. I'll take it!!!!

also, the TSB's from the '08 should be corrected as well, especially the exhaust rattle!!!!!

GO FOR THE '09!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if money is a problem get the 08.. as there is an 0.9% finance rate, if money is not a problem get the 09. however the 09 G37 AT7 comes with AWD and the 6MT doesn't... which sucks huge ****.

Will the washi door handles be able to be purchased and installed in an '08 model?

My Opinion:

YES. Due to the fact that the 03 door handles could be replaced with 05 door handles, and 08 door handles are currently available, so since the 09 is the same exact car with minor tweaks to make a sale, I would definately say they are interchangeable.
