Today I went to trade my car for a new M3 at my local BMW dealer. After test drive the M3 and start negotiating the price of the car the dealer offer me only $33,000 for a perfect fully loaded G37S. What happen to the value of my G37S????
Since the U.S. economy's so bad right now, the Kelly blue book data does mean nothing.

From my experience, unless Kelly himself is buying your car, it usually always means nothing. KBB can say it's worth $50,000. Doesn't matter. A car is only worth what someone is willing pay for it.

KBB is a helpful bargaining tool for the seller, just like the dealer will use their Mannheim Black Book or similar. That way since they're starting from low-ball black book auction value, you're starting from high-ball KBB, and you two meet somewhere in the middle.

First off our car has been awarded the best value over a course of three years so it is idiotic for you to be quoted that price but then again keep in mind that this is the job of a dealership...This is their business, they are sure as hell not going to pay you what you expect.

To make the problem worse the local I N f I N I T I dealer are financing the new G37 at 1.9%. If I can not get at least 38,500 I will keep it an start saving money to buy a Twin Turbo next year when we have more FI in the market for our engines. I love the GTMotorsport kit but, I am in Orlando Fl and sending the car to them is prohibitive expensive.

I spoke with Jim Wolf yesterday and they are working on a TT for the G37 they do not yet know what will be the market price but, they said that it will be in the rage of 7500-8000 range.

Later during the day I called Peter at APS (Australia). Peter the owner of APS told me that he is really exited to start working on the new 3.7 engine, but they are waiting to get a G. He even mention if I was interested to send the car to him, the biggest problem is that they need the car for 6 month and the price to send the car to Australia is even MORE $$$$$$$$$$$$$PROHIBITIVE$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ (Also the car need a clear title). Anyway all that to said that SOON we are going to see more FI options from other tuners.

Take care,
Gspot
If you're serious about TT, Performance Factory is in Orlando. They have done numerous FI applications for the VQ engine (all with great reviews) and they are currently looking for a G37 to put FI on. I believe they said the time frame to complete the install and tuning would be about 1 month from start to finish. Best of luck either way.

Why the hell are you trading in a car with less than 3000 miles on it?

Seriously, though, what did you expect?

First of all, last I checked the M3 is a hot new release and they are not exactly giving them away...so they are trying to make as much as possible on these cars. They sell them at MSRP, maybe more and they don't have to give you a deal because if you don't meet their price, somebody will.

Go trade in your car on normal vehicle and you will get a better offer, simple as that. I am sure the Chevy delaership will give you more for your car on a Corvette. It's a better car and it actually has style.

I agree with you but, $13,000 less that what I paid for the car JUST 5 month ago. Why do you think that the Vette is better car that the M3?

Thank you,

Fact is, you paid a lot for your car and the dealer kicked you in the nuts with that ridiculous, but predictable offer.

You paid $45K? Did that include TTL?

How much could the BMW dealer possible get for your G when the Infiniti dealers are selling them for $40,xxx with 1.9% financing? Maybe 35k?

So $33k for a trade-in doesn't sound totally unreasonable to me. Maybe you could get $35k for a private sale but then you'd be paying more sales tax.

May I suggest a new title for this thread?

"completely disappointed at at my poor decision to buy a G37S"

If you wanted the m3 you should have just started there. More money than brains if you ask me...

LOL this thread is hilarious. I can't believed I read everything.

Plain and simple. You WENT to a BMW DEALER and asked for a trade-in value for your INFINITI. LMAO. You are disappionted at what the BMW DEALER told you the trade-in value for your G37S was. wow. It's bad enough that the Infiniti dealer lowballz customers for trade-ins with Infinitis.

Any dealer (besides Infiniti) would have a hard time trying to sale a car that is not their brand specific vehicle unless you go to Carmax or somewhere that sells all Brands and Models. If I am shopping at a independent BMW dealer, I do not want to go on the BMW lot to look for a Benz or Audi. It will be hard to sell an Infiniti at a Bmw dealer especially when most customers want a BMW. If I was the BMW dealer, I would have offered you $20K.

Where are you finding 40K maybe 35k for a G37? Are you talking about base models with no wheels?

The used car business is totally different from retail. Used cars are traded multiple times between dealers and at auction before they are sold.

It sounds like he was low balled on the trade so that the dealer could make a little more on the m3, but still, even a trade-in at an Infiniti dealership wouldn't have been more than $3k-$5k higher.
