Dealerships Never Cease To Amaze Me

So I dropped off my car at the dealerships today to get my spoiler installed and to have my clear bra re-done.

I get a call from the service department while I'm at lunch and thought, great what went wrong this time?!

I was told that when they were removing the clear bra, some of the paint on the front bumper was stripped along with it!! They will now have to repaint the bumper, wait for the paint to cure, and then re-apply the clear bra. How much more BS can I be put through! This first car buying experience is really pissing me off!!

Now I'll have to drive their loaner car for 1-2 weeks while my car is with them...amazing

Just curious, how old are you if this is your first car buying experience?

Why did the clear bra have to be re-done?

I would guess that the bra was installed by a third-party used by the dealership. Either way, I don't see how you can be mad at the dealership for something they are just as upset about as you are. The more time and materials they put into the job, the more it costs them.

Stuff happens and a lot of times it's not pleasant. I can completely sympathize with your frustrations, but there are a lot of worse things to worry about in life.

I'd be more concerned with an electrical glitch that doesn't occur all the time, or a rattle that heals itself when in the service department.

Good luck! I hope everything works out all right with your car. Just keep in mind that it could be worse.

It shouldn't if it's removed properly. The guys working on it probably just suck.

lol

It's very soft (crappy) paint. The clear-bra removing the paint doesn't surprise me. *sigh*

I am 29 and have had hand me downs in the past which I took care of very well. I had to save up for quite a while to put a fat 25K down payment for this car in order to keep my monthly low.

The clear bra was done by a "newbie" and not the guy who has been doing it for years. The workmanship was poor. There was dust underneath the clear bra, a scratch underneath, marring, and the cuts were uneven.

This is the only post I've made about complaints really. It all started before I even drove off the lot. The car had scratches all over and they told me they would take care of them. When I brought the car in they buffed it but left swirl marks all over the driver side and passenger side doors! There was one particular scratch that they couldn't fix without repainting the whole thing because it was on the body of the car. When they first put the clear bra on, the day I picked up the car the clear bra on the side mirrors were already coming off!

I'm not supposed to have this many issues with a brand new car...I had less issues with my hand-me-downs!

I'm currently driving one of their 07 G35S Sedans. Let's just hope nothing else happens...

I feel for you man, it makes me sick to my stomach. This too was my first car purchase, at 24, and I have had a rough go of things (dealership related). Fortunately, I love this car and it's gonna take a lot for me to regret buying it.
