I've seen a Mercedes backing out and just scraping his front bumper with the rear bumper of the car next to him. He acted like nothing even happened/didn't care and drove away. Some people with nice cars might care about their cars more but if they're a crappy driver, they can still mess yours up if you're parked next to them.

Whenever I'm parked at work or anywhere for a prolonged period of time, I put the cover on to prevent dust and to remind people that the car that's next to theirs has a owner that cares, so maybe they'd be more aware of my car. The cover could prevent minor scratches too.

I feel you bro. I had to repaint my whole passenger side b/c of a key and I had the car out a week and someone dented the driver side and smashed the paint off there.

a car cover? are you serious? we drive an entry level luxury car, not an exotic supercar. i would think that would bring even more attention to your car than anything. i park away from people, but try not to bring unwanted attention.

I see 3 series and mini coopers covered up all the time, not a big deal. I want to keep the car from getting dirty as much as possible. It might also be that I treat this car with better care than I do with my first born . So I guess according to your definition, you can say that this IS my exotic supercar

I'm not so worried about attention, not too worried about it being keyed from malicious intent but more from absent-minded drivers that open their doors into mine.

^^that's racist. are you saying black cars are more prone to hit-and-run or random acts of vandalism?

How does black make a difference? Scratches and marks are easier seen??

ding-ding-ding-ding! We have a winner! lol

Yes, scratches are easier to see on all dark colors, black being the most obvious...

Never bet on the decency or intelligence of people who park near you.

At Costco on Sunday, just before closing I pulled into a spot far away. Left a space between me and a BMR Coupe who pulled in about the same time I did. Well guess what, a woman pulls in to the spot between us just as I was locking my car. Mmmm...decided to pull the "oops, I forgot something in my car" move to make sure she was aware somebody was watching how careful you need to be. All for not...she swings the door WIDE open whacking the side of my door. Too bad they have cameras in the lot or it could have gotten bloody.

Thank god it didn't leave a dent and I was able to polish out the white piece of $hit paint chip from her Camry.

I've had multiple times where I park my car way away from EVERYONE at a restaurant, literally a corner spot where there is 5 feet until the next spot so I'm all clear. I go and eat dinner and come back out to see some ****ty as 94 bronco parked, and this is not an exaggeration, 1 foot from my passenger side. WTF??????? Not only that but I had a ding there, it wasn't horrible, but it was a ding that I could spot. Who does this ****? I'd like to beat the living **** out of someone and shuve their faces into their car doors until they bleed into the cracks of their car.... OMG sorry it just pisses me off, who does this **** on purpose? They hatin cuz they don't have a nice car or something???

I know before I had a nice car if someone parked next to me, ****ty car or not, I put my fingers out by my door and was extra careful not to ding them... stupid lazy ****s..
People are clones. They would rather follow then lead. That's what it comes down to sometimes. I went the Hollywood Park race track on an off day. The entire parking lot was empty. I mean EMPTY. I park somewhere way in the middle far from everything. You would need a donkey and a guide to get back to where I parked. I sat in my car for a few minutes and sure enough some lady comes and parks right next to me. So I just had to ask her. "Why with the parking lot completely empty did you park right next to me?" She said "I dunno" "I was just following the crowd I guess". People rather follow you than have their own mind. I know it's really petty but that's what it boils down too. I tell you what I used to do with my other car. I used to keep a set of orange construction cones in my trunk and I would put them in the other parking slots on either side of my car. Did that when I parallel parked too. Worked like a charm.

LOL... thats a little extreme, I would be scared to do that, cuz if someone's watching me do that, then they'll probably come and key my car JUST cuz I did that...
