This car is an #*&%#$ magnet!!
Just have to vent a bit guys....
I picked up my G a couple of weeks ago and the car has been great. It's a bitch to keep clean being black on black, but you can't beat the look when it is.
Last week I'm giving the car a bath and notice a huge set of scratches on the drivers door about an inch wide and 5" tall (door rash)
, some *** had opened their door in to mine. I buffed it as much as I could but the scratches are too deep and they just stand out like a sore thumb on black. At this point I'm pissed, I've only really parked it at work since I got it so I know where it happened. I wanted to go shake down every person at my office to find the perp and thank them personally but I didn't. This week I made sure that I parked next to people I know (co-workers) and that know my frustration having a brand new car that someone saw fit to damage. In fact yesterday (Wed) I even parked in a vacant section of the lot so the car was isolated all day. I get home from work same day and decide to give the car a wash (rained Mon/Tue), as I'm going at the drivers side of the car what do I find?? SOMEONE GOT ME AGAIN!!!!!!! WORSE THAN THE FIRST TIME!!! This time it's on the rear quarter. At this point I'm fit to be tied!
I've got trucks that I've owned for years working them towing and construction that haven't had this much paint damage over years of service. I haven't even gotten the payment book or even the plates and registration on this car yet and the paint all F'd up!
I need a beer.

i was about to fap to the story,
....
....
...that sucks. is there any paint left on your car from the other person door? if so, go check everybody door edge and see if their door has your paint. do this if there not that many people at your job.

booooo...i though we were gonna here a good story.
but seriously, bad luck for you. $150-$200 professional paint detail should get rid of those scratches or at least hide them really well.

That's why at work you must park 5 bagillion miles away from everyone else. Or find other enthusiasts who care about there car as much as you do. I park far away from everyone else and my G and a Porsche GT3 and Lexus SC430 all block ourselves in to prevent anyone else from parking next to us.
We have a nice car - I know who parks next to me every day - I hate door ding mutual agreement.

at public places u can park isolated...take corner spots that sometimes have extra width....if u are meeting with friends park next to or between them since u will prob be approaching the car and leaving the car with them and most G Owner friends know how **** we are. However dont double park or park sideways too much because punk teens and jealous crackheads might wanna key your $hit....we live in a $%&@ed up world.
Yea, i feel for you bro...you should park very very very far away next to nobody if possible. The extra walking will suck but when theres little or no cars next to you, then the chances are less likely for another bamboozling.

These scratches are too deep to buff, rule of thumb on new car paint is that if you can feel the scratch with your finger nail it won't buff out. The paint is just too thin these days.
I just can't beleive with all the nice cars I've owned over the last 20 years I've never had a car door opened up into my car and cause damage. Then I get the G and get two whoppers in less than a week!!
I'm just going to chalk this up to bad luck. If I don't get anymore damage in the next month or two I'll have the door and rear fender resprayed.
i hear ya. a couple weeks after getting my g, someone scuffed my rear bumper. the detailer said the same thing as you as far as the scratches being too deep. Although. he was able to hide the scuff marks really well to the point where you can't even notice them.
Man I feel you on this one. It is a very sore subject for a lot of us I'm sure. I always make sure to park away from people because I know there are so many f'in morons out there that are so ****ING lazy they just jam their door right into a brand new car and don't give a flying shiiiat because they are ignorant lazy bastards.
I've had multiple times where I park my car way away from EVERYONE at a restaurant, literally a corner spot where there is 5 feet until the next spot so I'm all clear. I go and eat dinner and come back out to see some ****ty as 94 bronco parked, and this is not an exaggeration, 1 foot from my passenger side. WTF??????? Not only that but I had a ding there, it wasn't horrible, but it was a ding that I could spot. Who does this ****? I'd like to beat the living **** out of someone and shuve their faces into their car doors until they bleed into the cracks of their car.... OMG sorry it just pisses me off, who does this **** on purpose? They hatin cuz they don't have a nice car or something???
I know before I had a nice car if someone parked next to me, ****ty car or not, I put my fingers out by my door and was extra careful not to ding them... stupid lazy ****s..

Another April fools thread...you made me open this up for a scratch?
BTW I just found a small dent and scratch on my rear left bumper. It is on the left side and not the back of car. Scratch just goes to the clearcoat so it should be able to be buffed out. Still ticked though.

Colorado Springs eh?? I'll be up in Estes Park June 26-July 4th this year with my AB G37. We should do some sweet pics ??
I've also got some cousins in Colorado Springs so I'll be stopping there first.
Back OT, I hate scratches. I have dreams at night about the scratch monster who drives a big monster truck and he gets out of his car and puts a huge dent half way through the interior of my car.
Good thing your scratch isn't past the CC

Maybe you have an enemy at work?
I think it is better to park next to nice looking cars, instead of parking far away, or in a row of empty spaces. If you park in a spot where there are empty spaces on both sides of you, you won't be able to control who ends up parking next to you. And we all know that people don't know how to park straight.
