Advice Please

Hey Guys,

I've been a long time member of this site's sister sites for my350z.com and g35driver.com, also an ex 350z owner....

Well it's time for a new car, and yep, G37s is it... I went to one of my local dealerships to work some numbers and see how well they would work with me.. I've done a little bit of research, built my car online, and was 90% ready to get serious...

Anyway, here's my concern, I priced an IP G37S w/ Moonroof (not prem. package) online w/ no problem....

I get to the dealership and start asking about the same thing and the salesman says that I can only get the moonroof w/ the prem. package... I started thinking that he's just trying to push the Prem. Package on me...

So, my question is:

Can you only get the Moonroof if you get the Prem Package? If so, then why would Infiniti.com allow me to build one w/ the Moonroof and not have to get the package?

Any help would be apprectiated.... Looking forward to hopefully being part of the g37s club

When I was shopping around it seemed that 80% of available G37's came with Prem and Nav. Look around here and you will see most people have those options. It was fortunate for me as those were the packages I wanted and Infiniti seams to think they are popular enough to put them in most of their builds. You may be able to hook up with a dealer that can get one built that way, but you may have to wait a while for it to get in your hands. I google mapped(maps.google.com) infiniti dealers in the chicago area and visited their websites to look at the inventory and noticed most were prem and nav otherwise not many other options built without those packages. How much of a difference is the sunroof option from the premium package?

Moonroof = $1000 option

Prem. Package = $3200 (although, you do get quite a bit more stuff, but I really don't care for that other stuff)

I noticed that too, everywhere I look already has the prem package.

Yeah, I know what your are saying. You want your car built the way you want. I think anyone would understand that. If push comes to shove and their are no dealers that will get it built the way you want it and give you a good deal for it then at least you can use this as a bargaining tool. "I want the car with x options, so give me the car with more for the same price as x options." Cars are not selling right now. This is of course if the concern is the additional money for unwanted options.

Also, if you are stuck with the prem package, at least it is a lot of bang for the buck and if you sell the car later it will reflect it then.

It's an option. Just order it the way you like it from the dealer. It would have a 2-3 months lead time. Dealers are just pushing what's on the lot.

dealers dont order their allocation. they get what the factory sends them. chances are, every single G arriving in the US has premium package. probably the only cars that didnt were the very very first few when the car was brand spanking new.

dealer is pushing the premium because thats all he has. if you special order a car from japan, expect at least 3 months. it sucks, i know.

lol, what the difference between a moonroof and a sunroof. I can't remember.

I can only remember someone saying a moonroof lets u see the moon and a sunroof lets u see the sun.

I would get the premium package. It has a few extra options that you will not regret purchasing. Sometimes I get a Sedan loaner without the premium package. I feel like the car is just missing something. But either way the car will still be great.

Not correct. The video referred elsewhere on this forum about who the G37 is designed for says Infiniti has changed and now wants dealers to order their allocations. The corporate line is "who knows their customers better than the dealers themselves."
