Winter Driving

I was having some fun yesterday (light snow storm) in the parking lot with my car doing some drifting and donuts and I was coming up on a hill. My vdc light showed on, the clutch was stagnant meaning I could lift on and up without stalling, and my gas power was deregualted to where it felt like I wasn't working and I would just about stay stationary. Once I turned off VDC power came back and I revveed up to 3500rpms for a minute and a half to get up the hill and out finally onto the street but has this hapened to anyonelse before? I also felt like I heard VDC working when I wasn't able to move up the hill. Woudl it really stop my car totally?
