weight reduction
jus would like to know what cAN Be removed to mke your car weigh less to make a little more hp. i know on my gto i removed some a metal brace underneath the back of my car it was like 15lbs and a few other parts as well.
Well, you can start with the spare and jack, keep a botle of flat fix back there. Put in a racing battery, two piece brake roters when they are out, lightweight flywheel, lightweight wheels and tires, and titanium exaust. Or you can buy a Altima coupe!
Light weight seats. I almost broke my back lifting hte seats. the 19's could get lighter, spare is mentioned. i wouldn't take out braces unless you replace them with something stronger and lighter. Braces, supports and metal things normally are important if its bolted to your suspension. dry carbon hood and trunk, dry carbon fenders and doors. remove AC, speakers, door panles. I mean how far do you want to go? Mirrors to non powered cf.
all 11 speakers!!!!!under hood plastics, trunk plastics, wheel well noise elimination fabric, noise elimination fabric in trunk, take 1 large muffler out for 2 small mufflers, remove cats, rear seats out, airbags??? who needs em..lol...
ohh all the extra sound deadening materials. Those are hevy. Headlights, chrome trunk accenet, windows for lexan, carpet, ohh rear seats i think that would pretty much make your G the fastest stock G on the planet and the worst to drive but would be lighter than all of ours.

I know I am not the authority on decreasing the weight of a G37 since I added a sub and dynamat....both relatively heavy "mods". I guess my question is how much weight would really make a performance difference?? I have made weight changes to my son's motocross bikes but that seems like a big difference in relative weight where performance really matters. Maybe I am just getting old, no , actually I am getting old, but where is the cost of diminishing returns on performance vs. comfort on a $40,000ish car??
^^Ya there is a lot you can do on this car to make it lighter without any engine mods. Like other people said, remove the rear seat. That would make a huge difference. Get lighter front seats, remove the spare tire, get lighter rims, and carbon fiber hood/trunk <<(I heard this wouldn't help that much because the weight difference is not great). And then you have all the engine, exhaust, and other mechanical work you can do (when the parts are made and available). Plus tons of other things both safe and unsafe. It all depends on what you do and what look you want.
People that want to track this car might consider this. There are dudes that work in my building that are working towards racing licenses (or certs). I am not familiar with it or what you need to do to get them. They have "track cars" that they gut out some have 350Z, a G35, BMW335i, and S2000. I think the BMW dude took out his back seat or is thinking about it to lower weight. A best friend of mine is thinking about removing the backseat from his Roush Stage II Mustang so he can get better times when he takes it drag racing. For normal people like us who uses are cars everyday and want more comfort out of it, we wouldn't do this; at least not to the extreme of removing the rear seats. But there are people that do it.
