dude.. fess up. you were gettin' busy in the front seat.. yea.. somethin smells fishy!

good luck with this. i'm sure it's just one of those things that happens from time to time with any car... a part that was installed by a human.. which means errors happen.

let us know how it goes.

I am sure if you get pulled over by a cop and you explain the situation and that you are on the way to the dealer and have them fix it, chances are he will let you go. However, it's your personal safety that I would worry about rather than a ticket.

Don't gamble with it. Even if you're the greatest driver in the world, you never know when someone could plow into you. Get it towed there by Infiniti. They should assume responsibility over it, including giving you a loaner.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'll be in bed mourning for the loss that just happened T_T

i would demand the rental car. I would not agree to have a NEW LUXURY car fall apart right away. This is not right at all. Get a new car or at least a rental.

I'll get the scoop monday when i confrence call the service managers with the store manager.

i spoke with infiniti roadside and they assured me that the car would be towed via flatbed upon my request. however i need to speak with the dealer about a rental or temporary replacement. Roadside told me they might be able to send my G to the closest dealer and bring me another car in return at no expense... i'll believe it when i see it.

they will fix the scratches and give me a copy of the report -in case the car is a lemon. i hope its just this and nothing else.

hope this doesnt happen to anyone else! i'll keep you guys posted.

and no there isnt a back story to this. i've had my car for less than 800 miles which makes it even stranger to believe this is happening. when i told the lady in the infiniti roadside my issue she asked what year my car was. i said "08'" and she was like "im sorry-did you say 98'" i said "no 2008" she was like "oh MY"..... "thats odd -such a new car?"

anyways, im going to bed and pretend this whole incident was all a horribly nightmare -lol

Hey dzine07, it is Infiniti's policy to provide a loaner car for warranty work that takes more than 3-4hrs. That is one of the reasons there is confusion whether Infiniti or Nissan will get the new GTR because with a car of that cost you would expect the service you get with Infiniti as apposed to Nissan (which will provide a shuttle but no loaner car). The dealership needs to be notified ahead of time that you will need a loaner car so make sure you tell them because they will need to provide this as it is a corporate Infiniti policy and benefit of buying an Infiniti over a Nissan. The only thing that would stop this would be a state law which would not allow the dealership to do this but I don't know of any state that Infiniti doesn't do this in. REMEMBER that you need to tell them you need a loaner car. If you take it to a Nissan dealership you won't get this though.

There's no need to take the car in for warranty work. Just take the plastic cover off where the bolt is, put the bolt back in and use a socket wrench to tighten the seatbelt bolt back to the B-pillar.

I've had to remove the seatbelt on a couple of my cars. They're literally held on by only 1 single bolt. Super easy to remove and super easy to put back together.

There's nothing wrong with the car, it just looks like they did not tighten the bolt fully.

If you thought this was bad, my friend's VW Jetta came with NO seatbelt for the front passenger seat. I asked her why she didn't have one and she said when she bought it brand new, it didn't have one. She never thought of going back to the dealer to complain. I don't know who's more stupid, the VW assembly line worker who missed it or my friend who took delivery of a brand new car w/o a seatbelt. I guess I'm the dumb one for getting in the car and going w/ her without having a seatbelt to use.

JFC- why would you let the assembly drag all over the interior. As above, just bolt it back in, maybe with some blue loctite. At this point let the dealer fix it since the interior is damaged, but you could have prevented yourself a lot of hassle if you just reattached it right away. It's just a freakin' bolt for crying out loud.

LOL both of you guys should be infiniti technicians! and while your at it perhaps write up a DIY post and tell the rest of the world how simple it is to pick up a nut that fell behind the B pillar and is in the subframe structure wiggling its way around at every stop sign!

secondly, why would i risk tampering with such an important feature when the warranty could cover that and give me a rental car for free? I mean dont get me wrong, I'd love to sit in my garage in sub zero weather, deatch my rear quarter panel and reattach a bolt in an effort to save infiniti of north america some time and perhaps even money......buuuutttt, i think i'll pass.

dont mean to be rood but those comments were neither helpful nor' rational.

I would do the same. I wouldn't touch that stuff.
Besides, I wouldn't be in the mood to be removing body panels and fixing stuff on a brand new $40 thousand car. I, atleast, would've covered up that piece that's scratching up the plastic side panels.

that panel was scratched from the first day the incident took place. after i left the gas station the day it broke i put it behind me and when i got home -there it was. since then i havent driven the car. its just been in the garage waiting for a flatbed. infiniti assured me the car would left "like new". the scartch would not have happend if the buckle assembly had not come apart. had i known it was going to do that i would have left it on my lap till i got home.

i'll keep you guys posted.

^^^sarcasm was necessary, I agree, it's one thing to change ur own lightbulb but a safety belt sould be covered under warranty. Just imagine if he tries to fix it himself and something happens to him God forbid - Infiniti could possibly research it and say that he was negligent in attempting to fix his OWN SEAT BELT on a brand new warrantied car. bad idea. use the warranty. get some free oil change vouchers....have them trim your *****...get something...a broken seatbelt under normal use is more than a "defect" it's potentially lethal.

^^^+eleventy hundred to the last two posts. I wouldn't go near this thing with any kind of DIY. That's just asking for more trouble you don't need. Get it fixed by the manufacturer who caused the problem in the first place.
