I get just over 400 miles on my mixed (60% highway/40% stop'n'go) commute. I'm taking a real road trip to Orlando in a few weeks.

I have yet to hit 300 but I haven't taken a road trip yet. I'll be interested in your results.

So far I have been getting between 350-375 on a tank, with about 40% highway and 60% city.

The majority of my drives are my 45 mile (one way) commute. In the early morning (pre-5:00 am), there is hardly any traffic and I'm limited to 65 mph most of the way. I don't really deal with traffic until the afternoon, but even then, it's probably only 20% of the drive.

I also don't drive with a lead foot unless I need to get through traffic. Easy starts and stops go along way.

I also cheat by squeezing every last drop I can into the tank at fill-ups.

LOL, not really, but I probably need to. However, for most of my commute to and from work it is steady slow moving traffic, so I never really get above 50. I also live in a hilly area, so I do alot of coasting, LOL. I am hoping to break into the 400's as I get more miles on my car. I am pretty sure everybody's miles will go up as they drive it more.

I can't believe the numbers I'm seeing on this board. 300-400, I'm lucky if I break 250miles. What am I doing wrong, I have a 5AT and I commute about 25 miles each day to work and my tank is gone by the end of the week. Although I do spend a good half an hour in traffic everyday in stop and go.

Would I save more gas if I used manual and shift at a certain RPM?

Wow, that is weird, my commute is 25 miles a day also, however, it is not stop and go, it is more slow and steady or a roll. I also have a 5AT and am in regular mode most of the time, but if I have some room around me I like to slap it into manual mode. How many miles do you have on your car.

i'm getting around 250-300...to the OP, yeah i think to get 350-400 you need to 'not have so much fun'...it's the biggest killer in mpg.

I've got about 3800 miles on my car..I took a roadtrip down to LA..I think the stop and go traffic in the city is killing my MPG. From my house to the freeway is only about 10 miles but it takes me over 30 mins to get there.

I do some spirited driving but it's mostly in terms of turns and handling. I do start quickly from lights though. I'm 100% city driving through stop and go about 15-20 miles to work everyday and I would think it would be attrocious to get 400km (250miles) on a tank, that's exactly what my G35 Coupe used to give me. Right now if I don't break 500km there's something wrong, most I've gotten on a single tank (and it was with running on reserve I believe) was 540km or 336 miles. I have no idea how you guys are getting the 400miles, that's almost 650kms that's Civic Hybrid area! Who needs a green car when you guys are getting the mileage you are!

400 miles is not an impossibility. the G37 has a massive 20 gallon tank. if you average 19-20mpg...you are in that range.

this is of course due to the light footers who mostly commute on the freeway.
