Winter Driving
shumby,
How did you work around the huge brakes and pad's with your new 18" wheels? its pretty tight in there fom what i can see. what kind of rims are they? are they installed yet?
i was considering 18" rim and tire combo but i was thinking it had to be a special type of 18" rim.
lastly, if you did put the 18's does TPMS light go off??
thanks again

Orbie, you in Calgary? I am near Rocky Mountain House right now and we got that snow too. So you were using the summer tires and had no problems? That is good to hear I am trying to find michelin winter tires to fit and don't want to go with blizzacks. I am from Edmonton and i get my g soon I hope.
It snows a good bit. As well it gets cold really cold -40 cold . Yes it is my daily driver between me and my wife. I drive 10 km to work her 140km each way. If it is a snow storm she will drive the Maxima but other than that we trade everyother week. I am looking at getting a old truck for really bad snow storms. ( like a $500 piece of $hit)
Thanks for the pics...oh that snow!...we're due for that soon...not looking forward to it
Thanks to the rest of you for continuing to discuss this topic and share your info...
I'm really leaning hard toward getting one of these cars...really want the G37 but maybe the G35 for the AWD...
It needs to be a daily driver in ALL weather for me to consider it...
Lookin' good!

if you buy dedicated winter tires for your g37 you shouldnt be dissapointed. i live in boston where we get a good amount of snow and i have had no problems with my old g35 coupe in the snow with winters nor do i expect any problems with my new g37 and dedicated winters. I plan to put my new set of winter tires/rims on after thanksgiving.. then take off around march or so. I'll take a daily car that isnt "perferct" in the snow but lives for the summer.. over an all wheel drive thats good all around... but that's just me of course. The point is.. with dedicated winter tires as long as your not driving through drifts 4.5+ inches you should be just fine... AND you'll have a great looking car (inside and out) year round. And dont forget since this car is a few (big macs) heavier it'll most likely perform that much nicer in the winter months.

The sedan is a really nice car...but I want...no...NEED the coupe!
Maybe a midlife thing...who knows...
I noticed you bought in Danvers...good experience/price?
danvers was great.. i was g37 owner #1 with them so my experience may be a bit different than others.. but i was happy with their treatment. I live out west but decided to go with these guys.. word-of-mouth.

lastly, if you did purchse the 19" snowies -care to share the price and type of tire?
thanks man, BTW i saw ur vid on youtube... NICE! i'll post mine up this weekend -i'll keep you guys posted.
Are you rolling on 19" snow tires after thinkgiving? or are you doing the 18" rim setup with tires? im on the fence about buying Blizzak 19" wheels for the G37. i really want to be believe she'll drive good oin the snow with 19" winters on.

2-225/45VR-19 + 2-245/40VR-19 Bridgestone Blizzak LM-25 for $970.68 from Tire Rack delivered to my dealer who swapped them onto my stock rims for about $90 total. Your dealer may charge more, $130 was the original quote but they discounted it for me.
