Harsh experience with local dealer?

I needed a new car. Now. So, I went to the local infiniti dealer and looked at the new G35 sedan. It rocked. I looked at the G35 coupe, it rocked harder. Then they told me about the G37. I looked at a pic and spec sheet and I had to have one. So, I decided I wanted a G37S 6MT PG loaded.

This is a fairly small city, about 300,000 pop, ONE infiniti dealer. Their initial allocation was not going to have my car, and if I ordered it, it was going to take months.

I test drove their vehicles, discussed prices, options etc.

But I had to have a car. This car. So... I hit the intertubes.

I found and bought one about 90 miles away, in a tiny town. Only thing missing is the lighted kick panels. Very pleasant experience in all.

So a month later my local "internet manager" contacts me and asks if there is anything he can do for me. I tell him I have the car now, but has he heard anything about the lighted kick panels?

He then informs me that he doesn't sell kick panels, he sells cars, and that I should go to the dealer that I bought it from for any further assistance.

I then informed him, in the same "read between the lines" way, that he was a **** and that I was now afraid of doing business with the single dealership in a 90 mile radius. I wanted to say more, but didn't.

He could have been gracious, understood the situation that they didn't have the car I wanted, and wouldn't any time soon and that lighted kick panels are at this point PRICELESS (supply ZERO, demand INFINITE)), and he would have probably sold me an FX next year. Or at least just said "no news".

I think maybe I should speak with the general manager. I don't want my relationship with INFINITI to be ruined by one douche bag.

Anyone else of those of us ( all of us ) that buy straight off the boat ( I have VIN 603 ) seen this kind of behavior from local dealers? Or does this mean that they are having a hard time moving the G37s they have on the lot?

I didn't have an experience like that, but would strongly urge you to call Infiniti customer service and report the problem. Better yet, follow that up with a letter.

I wouldn't be surprised if you local dealer doesn't follow-up with some type of peace offering.

Good Luck!

I wouldn't worry about that Jack A_ _. Just call the parts department, at your local dealership, and get the part from them. Most salemen are insecure and petty when you buy a car from another location. I also would let him know personally that any future sales won't be obtained by him and I would use the same local dealership. Don't let one JA spoil your relationship with the local dealership. That fool might not even be working there next week.

Great points. I have now bought 2 cars from a delership that is a little farther away from my house than the closest one. My salesman was difficult in the sense that the dealership was using a "market adjustment" on the car so I am sure his commission would have been bigger if he didnt deal but I made him deal. I got mine for below MSRP and I still like the dealer and my salesman. Just like any businees they are out to make the most profit possible. As long as I get the deal that I want I dont get bitter just because they are trying to make a buck. The ones that are total a$$es I just dont deal with.
This car is definatley worth the time it takes to make a deal.
