How is it "lit up"? Are there external lights to light up what's back there or the rear view camera has night mode?

no its just your reverse lights. If there's no street light you can barely see anything.

Yah its pretty freaking bright even with no street lights, maybe you need to adjust the brightness of your screen.

You can only see whats directly behind you. You cant see like 5 feet behind you if the streets dark.

dont think so..sounds like either your expectations are diff. than the rest of us or you might be having technical difficulties. pitch black.. at night.. no external lights but my own cars reverse i can see quite well.. beyond five feet. i have a private road up to my house ... no lights at night on that road.

I concur BM, it's more like 30 feet of good clear view behind at night.

Compared to my 03 FX, this one is definitely much better lit at night. I think it's cause I can see possible the license plate lights or something that causing it to light up really good.
