I dont think the g35 is stock in this video , we all know the stock is350 is faster then the G35 and can hit 13.5 in 1/4 mile so how come an is350 with intake is slower than the G it doesnt make sense to me :s
There are a few other variables... the weight of the driver, passenger and junk in each car, and the skill of the drivers.

The IS350 weighs 3527 lbs which is a lot less than the G37, but the IS350 is almost exactly the same weight as the G35. I can tell the difference if I have a 200 lb buddy versus my 110 lb girlfriend beside me. I've taken out my spare tire and jack and I keep my car light, I don't even keep spare change in the car! So if the IS350 was a lot heavier via both occupants and junk, then the G could pull on it.

Also, the IS350 is an automatic. The 6MT G driver can hold his powerband at redline in 5th whereas the IS350's transmission will go into top gear and stop pulling at higher speeds.

Looked to me that the IS was the faster of the two cars. The G only passed the IS in the 1st and 3rd run AFTER the driver in the IS let off. In the 2nd run I think the IS driver was either caught sleeping or something. The G35 won that one but he wasn't pulling the IS at all. The IS was holding steady with him all the way after the G got the initial jump.

If you notice right when the driver of the IS lets off is right when the g was starting to real that IS back in. The IS was also modded and the G wasn't. I know the IS can run 13.5 down the quarter mile, but it is also because its gearing is a lot shorter and it has a lot of power. Lots of power + short gears = low ETs. Once the g hits late 3rd early 4th it startins pulling the IS back in...

So if the is is considered to have lots of power...how come a g37 with 330hp won't pull on it like crazy?

I think he is saying the gearing is more aggressive. The numerically higher the gear ratios - the more torque multiplication you get.

BUT, it doesn't. The IS 350 has a final drive ratio of 4.08 compared to 3.7 for the G37 - but the gear ratios are:

1st 3.52
2nd 2.04
3rd 1.4
4th 1.0
5th 0.72
6th 0.59

The G37 is

1st 3.794
2nd 2.324
3rd 1.624
4th 1.271
5th 1
6th 0.79

If you multiply final gear by each gear ratio, you see that in fact the G37 is more aggressive or equal in all gears.

Autoweek's test of the IS350 was 13.99 seconds in the 1/4 mile. I know people on the track are getting better than that. Let's see what the 1st G owners do.
