Rear 'Chop -- just for fun

I seem to have the biggest issue with the rear of the car. So, in order to avoid work, I threw together a little chop of how it could have been a little different:

Other edits (besides the redone rear area), include an elongated hood/front fender (longer hoods are always better IMHO), moved door handle (above "shoulder" line), and a sharper shoulder line.

Here is the original for comparison:

good work man, i have to say i wish the production g37 looked more like that, the 2nd biggest problem i have with it is the taillights, the first being that front bumper of course

TO each it's own. I think the chop looks mor esedanish. The rear tails on a sporty car IMHO should be closer to the bumper. The less space between the bumper and the tails the sportier (potentially) it looks to me.

IMO your chop looks alot more like the sedan rear than the original pic does.

I was going for a wider and lower impression. The problem with having such a large rear area is you either need tall taillights (like the production version) that make the car look chunky and narrow (IMHO), or a space between the bumper than the tails. I also wanted to keep it very "G" and not go crazy with a completely different rear end design.

Also, the car looks more sedan-ish because those are modified sedan tail lights. I like them because they have more dimension and curves, to go with the rest of the car. Heck, if they look good -- who cares if it is more "sedan-ish"?

I agree though, that it still doesn't knock my socks off. I just wanted to see what it would look like with a version of the sedan lights, and I think it is an improvement personally (but, all design is personal opinion anyway--not everyone will like it, no matter what).

Very Nice! I agree with you as well... actually I don't even mind the rear, I just can't bring myself to like the new tail lights. They have kind of a blobby shape and end abruptly at the side instead of integrate nicely into the car.

I think the rest of the car is beautiful. I even like the front end, more so that the current gen.

Nice chop...
Still liked the concept rear...
The bumper wasn't sooo dominating & the tails were shaped into the fenders much better.

I kept on doing the, "page up... page down" look.. and I have to say, your chop is actually a lot nicer. Great work.
