Reason: UPDATE
There is a "shark fin" antenna for the convertible, however, there are two issues with swapping antenna types.
1) the "stick" antenna is for both AM/FM and XM SAT radio, and
2) the "shark fin" is solely for XM SAT radio.
If you swap to the shark fin, you will lose AM/FM reception. The shark fin is intended to be installed with the OEM spoiler which has a separate antenna built-in for AM/FM. Not to say you couldn't find/ install a separate antenna, but how important is it to you?
Here is what you will need (if they are even available anymore). You may have to source used parts:
As for the AM/FM antenna, when time permits I will see what I can find...

Many years back I replaced the antenna with a plastic piece I found on a car site somewhere. FM range is reduced, but XM and AM have seemed fine. Since most of my listening is Bluetooth or iPod this has been a fine solution for me. I keep the antenna in the trunk in case it's ever needed (so far so good).
