Vert Flappers hanging down

I have a 2012 G37. I believe the flapper gears or motor are bad. Also known as the convertible top transmission gear. So many names. Anyway, I had a mechanic check it out, he called the dealer and they said both need to be replaced at the same time. Since both of them are hanging low. There not locking into position. Is there an adjustment on these or anything? Just weird that both of them at the same time are hanging down. I did see the flapper on the passenger side not closing properly and the hood wont close. I had to manually move the flapper some and then I was able to close the top. This seems to be a common problem along with so many others! Any insight on this would be great.
BTW, I did find this part on line a little cheaper than some other ones suggested. $836.97

Look for Guy Menards posts for his replacement gear sets. Easy DIY parts for way less than your number shown.
