Trunk hinge bumper pad

Has anyone had to replace the little rubber pads that cushion the trunk hinge that opens when you open or close the roof? I can't find the part number. Any idea of where I could get one other than the dealer?

Both of mine are completely destroyed/dissolved.

So I never found the Infiniti part number, but I did discover that a solid rubber plug from Home Depot or Lowe’s, 1 inch in diameter and 3/4 inch in length, fits perfectly. It is a very snug fit into the cup so it won’t fall out. The top is much smoother in operation now.

Thanks for posting this! I'll have to take a look as the final trunk closing has been a bit louder lately.

These bumpers are actually in use when the trunk opens backwards to let the roof into or out of the truck They cushion the stop when the trunk is in full open position.

Which position should the roof be in to replace these?

The roof needs to be closed in order to replace the bumpers. Actually, now that I think about it, you might be able to do it with the roof open (folded up in the trunk). Those hinges are outside of the roof mechanism, I think.

Trunk Hinge Bumper Part #844A9-JJ51B

My trunk hinge bumpers are also disintegrating as described by G8RDave.

I found the part number for the Trunk Hinge Bumper, part #844A9-JJ51B. Infiniti charges $203.60 each. That's crazy!

I will investigate the solid rubber stopper from Home Depot or Lowe's. Thanks for posting this solution. GR8Dave, How is solution working for you?

I created a model of the bumper if you have a 3D printer and some flexible filament like TPU:

gwurst,

Awesome. Thank you!! What density of TPU material do you recommend using for this part. I don't personally have a 3d printer but understand that there are businesses like Staples and The UPS Store that offer 3d printing services.

Have you or someone you know successfully used this 3d printer object in a G37 convertible?

I used this, https://www.homedepot.com/p/1-in-x-2...8248/204273790, fits well and has the same texture (springie-ness) as the original.
