G 37 convertible top issues

I just wanted to share something. I discovered when I was dealing with my 2009 hardtop issues, I’m actually still dealing with some.

It’s an awful story you don’t wanna hear about it. Trust me; however, I did get to the point where I was driving & that insanely annoying loud beep sound that does not stop that makes you wanna shoot yourself. Well it continued all the way to an AutoZone, where I parked my car looked up fuses to see if there’s anything I could find that I could pull to make it stop and I stumble upon a fuse that has to do with the stop. The beeping makes the back windows go down when it’s in the trunk can be popped as long as the fuses in but if it’s in it beeps the whole time so I personally use it only to pop my trunk and only to roll down the back windows and then I take it out when I drive I’ll show you a photo of the actual fuse.

Fuse that controls the back windows & the trunk.

Controls trunk and back windows

Replace whole bracket video

There used to be a video on YouTube on how to replace the whole flipper bracket. I know it was there because I followed the instructions a few years ago to replace the other side bracket. Does anyone have a link to that? Not replacing the gears, but replacing the whole bracket…

Roof in closed position

What happens if you have to replace the flipper assembly but your roof is in closed position? Is there a way to manually open/close the flap?

Can be done with an helper deploying the flap manually when you do the opening procedure...Flapper need to reach the micro switch to allow and terminate the full sequence.

AND, replacement can also be done with the top closed...That's I recommend(less risk of damaging the roof panel or the back glass lying in the trunk.

I live in Southern NH and the local dealerships are abysmal. I'm looking for someone to repair a pretty labor intensive hard top issue, have 2015 Q60S and as far as I know the rear seat needs removal. I wish I could do it myself but have an injury that prevents it. I'm getting quoted almost $12K from the dealership for the repair. Who's the guy you know in MA?

What are they saying is wrong with the top? When you say "hard top" I assume it's a hard top convertible?

Please provide some details of your cars roof problem. $12k to repair the roof makes no sense on a car that is not worth much more than that as a whole, IMO (dealer overpricing notwithstanding).

It didn't happen to be the shop that specialized in Japanese cars, right near the Quincy Adams train station? If so, that guy could fix anything!

No, but I know Dino too! He could fix it but wouldn't want to say he would. He might for a steady customer. I don't think he takes new ones anymore.

Dino L, that's the guy! I used to go to him back in the 80s for my Celicas.. He would yell at you for not taking proper care of your car. 😀

I know, we became friends so I learned to love him. My kids were afraid of him because of the yelling for not taking care of the car. Dino is the man and yes, I bet he could fix the roof but doubt if he'd touch it. Like I said. I got to know him pretty well.
