Trunk struts worn out on my vert.

Needing some suggestions for maybe a stronger trunk strut. Tired of getting my head bashed from the extremely heavy trunk lid!

In for any suggestions also, other than oem replacment, which really might be the only option. At 99.9k right now and it is showing it's age.

Lift Support Depot Amazon #PM3146 $59.00 for set. Stated are same spec as OEM maybe even a little stronger. My 09 working on 23k, she's barely broke in, but the struts are weak.

My 09 is about to hit 40K miles and the struts are holding up strong but, I rarely open the trunk - there's no room in there to store anything!

My dealership replaced mine under extended warranty! I was very happy. The trunk lid now opens much easier and stays open until I want to shut it.

Just had mine replaced by the dealer. 600 bucks for both installed. I know it was way too much but I did not have a choice as they were repairing my top. I wish I would have bought them from another online site and did it myself. I was just too scared with the vert top and all the working motions.

Strange enough the struts for my hood are worn out too. 71K miles. Come on!

I bought mine used with 60K miles. Makes me wonder how much the previous owner was using it. Maybe they just go bad?

I just replaced my hood struts at 80k, they barely held the hood up. It's a very easy 5 minute job and like a $35 cost for the pair on Amazon or eBay.

As previously mentioned, the ebay replacement trunk struts for under $60 is the way to go - not German parts like the originals, but an easy 10 minute swap. The only tool needed is a screw driver to pry off the retaining clip. It also helps to have someone hold the trunk lid open while you do the job. Did mine about a month ago on my 2010 with 35K miles.

I bought mine thru Amazon but I think lifts support depot is the provider. They work great. My very was at 43k miles and the trunk lid would barely stay open. Put the new ones on and it holds the lid open at any position. Well worth the 60 bucks shipped.

Bought the ones for the hood on Amazon for 25 bucks and free shipping per previous post. Took about three weeks to get to Atlanta from China. I installed them in 10 mins with nothing more than a flat head. Easy job. They are super strong and work great. Wish I could have done this with the trunk ones. Would have saved me 600 bones.

Thanks for the suggestion!
