Smile Broken seat belt loop

I have a 2009 G37S vert and my seat belt loop is broken as seen in the photo.

Broken seat belt clip by Vackovich, on Flickr

What are my options to get this fixed?

The dealer stated it would require a whole new seat cover with a very expensive cost.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

wish i had answer

My 2012 Vert failed similarly. Was warranted. Fix was new seat cover as you said. Maybe a seat cover shop could fix?

If not an auto body shop or custom interior place, a shoe repair guy should be able to easily fix that specific portion of the snap...

Yes, as the others stated, go and find a local car upholstery shop in your area. I had a seat belt guide replaced in my BMW Z3 and the upholstery shop did a great job and they did it in less than an hour.

you might try even a alterations shop if it is just the snap needing replaced. not the same but they replaced some on a coat i had.

Unhappy Infiniti reply to the issue

I contacted Infiniti regarding this defective design of my seat belt loop. There reply was "..this is not a wantable position for Infiniti and the seat belt is still functional".

My 09 convertible has 33k miles and this poorly made seat belt loop failed. It is not reassuring to see that Infiniti weaseled their way out of standing behind their product.

Thanks to the forum members for your advice as I will now be seeking a custom upholster solution.

I am curious did you get this repaired? My leather is not torn but the snap is broken and has come off the leather strap.

I found a upholstery place that removed my seat cover and replaced the snaps that were broken on the seat. I am not certain what you would do in your case for the broken snap in the strap. I still think that a good upholster place could remove the stitching, slide a new snap in, and sew it back together without removing the seat cover.

Wow a lot of great advice here. My 12 vert failed as well in same spot. Had I known about the options mentioned on this thread 6 months ago I wouldn't have taken some hardcore Leather glue to it and solved the problem myself. But I would think an upholstery guy could still fix it after separating the glue I used from the button. Right??

I have the same problem on my driver seat. The snap came off with everything else intact. Doesn't really bother me, but I have closed the door on the buckle which caused a some scratching in the door seam. 😠

I have no idea how this one happened, but on my rear seatbelt, where the seat belt comes out, the plastic piece just came off. Nobody even sits back there!! Anyways, cosmetic problems that don't bug me enough yet but I'll soon take care of these.

I have the exact same problem with my 2011. In fact, if I didn't know better, I'd say that you took a picture of my broken strap.

Do a lot of vert owners have this issue? I am going to apply a fix on mine this weekend. If it works, I'll post an update and what I did. Didn't know if it would be of value if this is an isolated issue.
