My LEMON of a G37 story

First I will start by saying I miss my 08 G37 6MT Coupe. It was by far one of the most fun cars I have driven. Well aside from a 09 GTR.

Anyway I just thought I would share that along with a New Transmission, I'm nowthe proud new owner of a brand new Engine.

Yes you have read correctly. New Tranny back in July/August and now new Long Block : ). Merry Christmas. Before anyone says I have abused my car I assure you I have not "abused" the car. Supposedly the engine was short 2 to 3 quarts of oil. No leak found.

I hate to say it but this might very well be my last Infiniti. With a dealer that refuses to service any of my cars because I did not purchase the last two from them (Kings) to a nightmare and I mean nightmare of an experience with the Vert, from the nagging and never ending rattles from the top, overall build quality issues, transmission, shifter, and now Engine I am finished.

My Infniti history includes:
04 G35 6mt Coupe
06 G35 Sedan
05 FX35
08 G37 6MT
09 FX35
09 G37 VERT 7 AT

Hopefully they step up to the plate and make things right for you. Can't imagine them denying you a buy back after all that.

Kings has always been a piece of **** ******* dealership to deal with. Whether its the service or the sales dept.

however, dont let that, or the car issues discourage you from getting another infiniti. It seems kinda silly (especially for a person with a long history with the company) to make a decision based on 1 car that was poorly built. it can happen to any company

It always saddens me when people give up on Infiniti after a bad dealer experience. Both my dealers are wonderful to the point where I cant even choose where to go to anymore...

The only reason bad dealers survive is because people keep buying cars from them.

Good luck.

The guys are Kings are amazing (sarcasim). Bob Pearl can go **** himself and so can the owner.

I seem to have similar issues with almost all of them. The G35 6mt/08 6mt both had master cylinder issues, twice on the G35 coupe. That was a really fun experience especially the first time going thru traffic with no brakes bringing the car to a stop switching thru the gears (Yikes).

I've had the same leather seat issues with ALL of them, the leather cracking or prematurely going.

Throttle body reset/recalibartion needed on G35 6mt and G37 6MT.

Belts prematurely wearing on the 05 FX35 and on the 09 VERT

Rotor/Brake Recalls on Coupes and Vert

The dam top on the vert is so annoying and embrassing. Why do I drive around a 45-50k car that squeeks and rattles like nothing I have ever heard. A rear window that constantly has greese tracks on it no matter what the dealer does. Windows that will auto-roll up and come back down mid-way again (TOP Alignment? Rubber).

All I am saying is there should be some more refinement made to the car. I m not a bimmer guy, not really my style, but I doubt they are having the same issues that myself or a few other guys on the boards have experienced on there 335's.

Then to top it off I have to drive WAYYYYYY out of my way to get the car serviced. Brooklyn to Long Island everytime. I work in manhattan. I am in by 8am and get off at 5:30 sometimes 6pm or later.. Scheduled days off and money coming out of my pocket just to bring it in for service everytime is a big no no for me. To much inconvience.

oh wow, I had no idea you had issues with all those cars. I figured since you kept getting infinitis, you were happy with them.

you know you can always get your car serviced at Infiniti of Manhattan. You can even get it serviced at Nissan. I got my oil change done at Bay Ridge Nissan since it was closer than Kings

I am gonna wait for this lease to end.

I have a year and some months left I was considering a well kept E46 M3( Saw a SUPER MINT one this morning on my way in looked so nice in stock form paint was gleaming no body damage) or 09 G37 6MT. I don't know where my finances are going to be with all thats going on right now. Recently engaged with a wedding to plan and not to mention another equally important goal I am trying to achieve all at once. If things weren't happening all at the same time I'd spring for the new M3 but I thinking about all this money on leased cars that I've blown in the past few years and its an unnecessary distraction in my life. Additional worries and time spent focusing on cars when that time and energy can be applied to other purposeful things. Priorities first.

Forgive my short story telling lol but thats where I am at.

***UPDATE***

Got the car back this morning, not gonna lie I missed it. Left the H&R suspension on and CV1's for a few more weeks. Car is definately a head turner, I hope to not have any more headaches. Time to break the engine in. I keep you all posted if I have any other nightmarish stories.

Its unfortunate that you've had bad experiences with the SA at Kings. I'll say this much I too had HORRIBLE experiences with them there as well but I was fortunate to run into the owner Sal after they'd had me come out for like the 5th time to pick up my car after telling me it was repaired after it wasn't.
I had no idea who he was at the time but he listened and guaranteed that the issue would be resolved in short order and it was. I've also run into him on more than a few occasions since then an as always he's proven to be a very stand up guy. Its sad but I don't think the SA's are really a reflection of HIS work ethic. I get it that ultimately he is the responsible party but I'd suggest that you try to 'run' into his to make your point.

yeah, mine is gone too, repurchased by nissan. i feel sorry for whoever is going to own it, as i had no way to advise a potential buyer about the real issues. nissan never acknowledged finding problems with the gearbox, since their computer left no traces about malfunctions in the logs. i ended up turning it in for the damn roof noises. whatever.

in retrospect, i so much wish i would have liked this car. it looks great in pictures, and as many of you said here, there were people stopping and asking me about it. (although this is not something i particularly like.) kind of a turn off to tell them about my experience. i hope my ex-car was an exception, and i hope you all have less trouble than i did. the reason i would not recommend g37's and infiniti is not as much about the car i had, but about the way their customer service and repair shops handled the situation.

oh, and JGabucci, you may want to reconsider waiting patiently until your lease is up. turns out that on a repurchase, they end up refunding every dollar that you paid for the car. you can use the money to buy yourself a new one if you so like it. or, like, a really nice convertible.

I hope it's trouble free going forward now. Post some pics with the H&R's installed.
