little squeeks

does anyone get little squeeks when the top is down if going over slight bumps? (don't really notice it at higher speeds... but then again... i never really paid attention before)

i hear very faint squeeks like a bird chirping or something when the top is down. seems to be coming from the rear of the car... the back seat area... if the top is up... it's squeekless.

has anyone had this issue before? wondering if it's normal.

must be you... i only hear little squeaks or creaks or rattles here and there when the top is up going over bumps or whatnot... might be just a screw that needs some grease or something...

Maybe there is an actual bird in your trunk man!! Geez, better check that out soon before it dies!

Haha, sorry, haven't noticed anything like that.

Wha?? C'mon - you know you can't fit a bird in the trunk of a vert!

Likely the deck lid or possibly the trunk seal. Check the 2 stoppers by the latch to confirm they are set to the proper height so the trunk closes tightly.

well i did a little investigation. i am able to actively reproduce this with the top down and closing the driverside door harder than usual (i imagine i could do this with the passenger side door as well). i had the top down and the trunk open and i notice the squeek coming from the mechanicals of the top (all the joints and arms back there). i also tested this with the top partialy closed (but right before the trunk colapses in... so it was latched to the frame the the front windshield) and noticed no sound when performing my "door" test. next test i will do is test with the top partially closed (right before it makes contact with the front windshield) and see if the sound still exists. (wife went out with the car, so i can't test now)

once i have my test data, i will take it to the dealer. probably just a loose bolt or nut... or maybe it needs a little bit of grease somewhere.

i'll report back once i take it to the dealer. probably sometime next week. might have to convince my wife to take it as my work schedule has sucked **** lately.

hey stormgate... thanks for all the hard work and research. your methods are definitely more much in-depth than mine were. i'm looking forward to your results from the dealership. thanks again!
