Anyone thinking of getting the spare tire kit for the convertible??

So from Kenny's post from some time back https://www.myg37.com/forums/2649806-post2.html, I should expect to pay 490. Has anyone gotten this for less and any pics?

I have the Spare Tire Package and only took it because it was already in the car. I am probably going to take it out so I can have a little more storage. Just use road side assistance if you get a flat.

If you want I will post some pics tomorrow.

In the Tampa Bay Area when I was looking for a 2010 Convertible everyone I looked came with the spare tire option. I couldn't find any without the spare tire... But like NewGMan said just use roadside assistance.

Yeah, roadside assistance is not much help in the extreme case of a national holiday and a shredded tire and all tired places and dealerships are closed. More info here https://www.myg37.com/forums/2856393-post6.html Just from a time standpoint and if I'm out of state, I'd like to have the option.

Yeah, I'd like to see some pics. Thanks. Just contemplating having less trunk space if I go through with it.

I'm ordering all of them w/ spares just the fact that you'll never know where you'll get stuck.

Good idea. Particularly out of state.

That's not the cheap donuts you see on a lot of cars. The spare on the sports has to be at least 18-19" . Did they use a factory rim?

this is a good addition to ur car for alot of reasons but it adds even more weight to the already heavy vert. i just got a oem wheel off of the net and left it in my garage if i need it but thats only if the tow truck cant make it for some strange reason and not yet have i had a problem getting a tow for any particular reason. plus there no place for the windscreen if u dont want it set up in the car.

Good points. I figure it's not that much more weight, maybe 30 lbs or so. I would only add it in when travelling out of state or to one end of the state. The deflector can go on the back seat if needed.

I agree and I have a complete set of wheels & tires in the garage for my G but which one did you get the front or rear? They are staggered and are different sizes you know...

Shouldn't matter for a short term spare, you should see the bicycle wheels that comes in the Spare Tire Package.

Anyone have a part number for the kit? Does it come with the wheel and tire or is it just the toolset? My dealer told me that you just buy a wheel and tire - no reason to buy the kit. I was concerned about it fitting in the "sub-floor" in the trunk if it was a full size wheel/tire.

I would definitely prefer a spare over the tire repair kit - I lose a tire every other year or so - twice on a stretch of road leading up to Lake Placid where there is no cell phone signal. I'd hate to be dependent on a tire patch kit in those circumstances.
