People are going about this the wrong way.
I don't understand all of the negativity that is coming from this forum about this new convertible.
Of course when you create a convertible off of a pre-existing vehicle you are going to experience some design compromises. You just can't make a convertible into a coupe clone.
I think everyone is going about this the wrong way by comparing the g37 convertible to the g37 coupe. Really people should look at this with the perspective of someone who first off is looking for:
1) a convertible
2) four seater
3) hard top or must be a damn good looking soft top
4) something that is not ridiculously expensive
Luxury import convertibles:
Lexus SC430 hard top convertible - $63,825.
HP - 288
BMW 3 series hard top convertible - $50,400
HP - 300
Audi S4 Soft top Convertible - $57,125
HP - 339
IS 250 or 350 Hard Top Convertible
pricing unannounced. Probably 37,000 for the 250, 40+ for the 350?
HP IS 250 - 205
HP IS 350 - 306
G37 Hard Top Convertible - $????? I believe the base price is not out yet, but if Infiniti continues with their pricing strategy, I am sure it will be much less than their competitors.
HP - 330ish
Seeing that the vert is going to have the same 330hp engine as the coupe, (I believe Infiniti is playing with the numbers) so far the only vehicle here that has surpassed the G37 in hp is the Audi S4 which happens to have a SOFT TOP. Which I personally would not want to deal with. So come on guys, quit comparing this convertible to all other coupes. Its is a convertible and it will have its compromises, but I believe it is a damn good alternative to the other guys out there.
That's all the time I have for now for this post, I'd like to invite everyone else to explore the other options for a convertible in the same price range.

Indeed, you have a very good point. We just aren't used to seeing a Convertible version of the car, thats all.. Sometimes, it takes me a while to grow on the car. When the G37 came out, i thought my G35 was vastly superior... low and behold, i am currently driving a G37.
Comparing the G 'vert to the other competitors though, i have to say that it looks 10x better. The Lexus offering looks kind of gay (sorry for my bluntness). the 335i looks wimpy in the back area, while the front looks aggressive and bulky. The S4 looks good though, but man is it pricey.

The Lexus SC430 convertible (and SC430 of that generation in general) is one of the ugliest cars known to mankind in that price range. The wheels look like miniature flying saucers. The older, sleek SC of the late 90s was more pleasant to look at and had the non-Turbo Supra motor I believe.

Shopping for a vert should not be based on HP because you are never going to use it anyways!

Seeing it in person always changes the minds of many who judge from just the pics. When I first saw the G37 I was a bit underwhelmed. But when I saw it in person and parked my G35 next to it I knew it was time to trade. Seeing the G27 vert in the video has made me warm up to it a little more. It looks better in motion and especially withthe sport kit on it.
