Pardon my ignorance but wouldn't this engine be in competition alongside the turbo Hyundai Genesis coupe? I mean they are similar small displacement turbo engines on RWD platform. So this turbo 2.5L will probably produce more torque than the VQHR motors but not too far off from the overall HP figure. Seems like this is going to be the best buy for your money. & fun factor cause we all know turbo = the endless possibilities...

So it's pretty much the same tactic as the Nissan Altima 2.5 vs. 3.5? I was hoping the G25 would have a complete new look.

I always expected the 3rd gen Sedan to be released as a 2011 MY. Perhaps they'll release the 3rd gen Sedan and Coupe the same year this time around as a 2012 MY.

The reason i bring up the Hyundai Genesis 2.0 liter Turbo coupe is because they are already pushing it for more power and are putting down alot of whp on that small turbo block. Here the LoveFab vehicle is putting down 382WHP and 324WTQ on a Mustang dyno. This upgraded turbo kit is running on stock internals i believe but im not 100% sure. Makes me want a to go TURBO NOW!

That wouldn't make sense, as this is still going to be a G. A G Sedan will always look the same body style wise, whether it's a 25 or a 37. Just like both versions of FX and M share the same body style.

Something like 38 MPG real world. The turbo version will probably get less, but still that is pretty high.
no way! **** i'd trade in my coupe for the 2.5T sedan if this is truth

Well, the previous G20 model was like the Sentra (and G35/7 being the Altima). I was hoping for a different body like Acura TSX & TL.

I pray to god that they do not release a g25 coupe. If they do these cars will be all over the place. Sucks for the sedan guys i already see a million sedans a week once this drops forget it!

One reason why I did not get a 335i or is350 there bottom class looks way to similiar.

Great competitor for the 328 thou. +1

g37 tt +2

Well, the Essence concept car has a twin-turbo 3.7 liter V6 making 440 hp. So, it looks like Infiniti is jumping on the turbo bandwagon. If they dropped it down to 3.5 liters it would still be making more than enough hp to compete with the S4 and 335i. BMW confirmed today that they are making a 335is Coupe & Convertible with 335 hp / 332 lb.ft. (369 lb.ft with over-boost function). Infiniti will need to step it up.

Can you post link of the BMW Confirmation?

I also believe the essence isnt in production anymore.. I could be wrong but I remember reading its not going to be in production.

Edit: its back in production, well see how infiniti plays thier cards.

the essence was never meant to be a production car. It simply introduced new technologies such as hybrid drive systems, turbocharging, direct injection, etc.

I am thinking that when G25 comes out, G37 will get direct injected engine which will produce better gas mileage and more HP. To me this make sense. If 2.5 L engine can produce over 300 hp with turbo why the h*ll anyone wanna buy G37 with bigger engine with moderate higher HP.

G25 will get 2.5 L V6 Turbo with 300 hp -+
G37 will get 3.7 L v6 Turbo with DI with 350 hp or higher. I read that with just DI will get 350 HP with 3.7 L. So if you add Turbo, would it make it go higher like in 370 range?

what do you think?

^ I highly highly highly doubt the G25 will be 300+HP. They are bringing this model out to compete with the IS250, 328i, C300, etc. Having it released with 300+hp would totally defeat the purpose of it IMO.

The vast majority of people neither need/want 300+HP nor want to pay for it. The amount of IS250s and 325i/328i's on the road shows that. The majority of folks want to get into a stylish semi luxury vehicle for a decent price. I am guessing the G25 will have about 250 HP and that's it.
