whats the purpose for having that whole cage installed?

 

protection in case of a rollover or accident as well as stiffening the chassis for better handling.

 

Plus, some sanctioning bodies and tracks require a cage when a car approaches high speeds/low ets in the quarter mile... Jeremy's Z passed those speeds in one jump...
