Brake squeal on an '05
anyone experience their brakes squealing after the car sits for a few hours, or overnight?
my '05 sedan has developed a squeal in the brakes when the brakes are NOT being applied. it occurs in the morning after the car has sat in the garage overnight, and sometimes after it has sat just a few hours.
it clears up after you apply them and returns after you release them. takes a good few miles for this do stop occuring.
the local dealer, who i'm normally very pleased with, says it's normal. rust/dust build up from sitting??
just like they say the front end groaning over bumps, dips etc., is normal.
the car only has 24K miles on it, and it's a little disappointing to have "normal sounds" like this already on a higher end car.

#1) high performance brakes do have some sounds like this, and according to John at Lokey, this was a major reason they got rid of the brembo's in 05.
#2) ur probably just beginning to get the brakepad warning sound. It will progressively get worse until u change them. At 24k I would almost give you 2:1 odds that this is what it is.

I'd say it's rust on the rotors (although not if it is garaged) or the wear sensors. As inexpensive as good brake pads are (Axxis) I'd look into changing them. You need to pull the wheels off and check out the pads.

had it at lokey yesterday and they said there was plenty of life left on them.
based on the fact that it is still doing it, i'm sure i'll have it back there shortly......

I have an 05 and mine do the same thing... I only have 11,000 miles on my car. I hear em in the morning when I'm rolling slowly through my parking lot. As sonn as I drive down the street and brake a couple times it stops. My mechanic said it's nothing to worry about, something about the rotors, I don't know.
