head unit problem

i probably could've posted this in the main forums but id rather get back intelligent responses.

...then again some of you...

anyways, so i was just pulling out of walgreens and i went to turn the volume **** up on my radio when the volume just froze. nothing else responded on the head unit. so i tried the steering controls and was able to turn it on and off. nothing else worked at this time. as i was driving down the road, a couple minutes later the steering controls were able to adjust the volume and radio station. however, the hu display was still stuck on "volume: 23", the last thing i saw when this problem began. nothing else on the hu responded. ive got the stock bose hu (yeah "blose" ive heard it before) with a 500w boston acoustics mono amp and 12" sub that are tapped into my oem rear amp. now i know if i take it in to infiniti, they'll attempt to blame that. im pretty smart so i cant really think of any way that the system would affect the hu since its just tapped into the signal and power from the rear amp. the speakers all still work, its just the hu that seems to have crapped out. is there something i dont understand where they can have a case against my system? just wondering if anyone else has had this problem or knows what might have happened? im hoping when i try it a little later, everything works fine. if all else fails, i can get it replaced under warranty. id prefer to get something aftermarket but i dont see how i could get infiniti to cover that heh. thanks for your help.

I had the exact same problem and I have the stock bose stereo w/o any aftermarket amps added. I restarted the engine and everything was fine again... I just hope I'm still covered under warrenty when it really craps out.

I don't see where your amp and sub would cause that issue either. I think it's just the crappy radio.

I'd try to have it covered under warranty. If they give you a problem, they will need to show you how your amp caused the display to freeze. If they still won't do anything, then you can probably get a used one pretty cheap from someone that replaced theirs.
