I've had these for 2 months now but there are not made for horsepower, they are made for better filtration than stock, no oil and and reusable so more cost effective
I would love to know the filtration efficiency of the stock filters, these, and the K&N. It's really easy to design a filter that flows more air, but is it really filtering as much as I need it to?

I found these instructions for cleaning DRY filters on the AFE website:
  1. Use a soft bristle brush like a paint brush to remove large chunks of debris and dirt from between the pleats. GENTLY TAPPING the filter on the ground to remove any loose dirt being careful not to bend any of the pleats.
  2. Spray the cleaning solution that comes in our Restore Kit, on the dirty side of the filter. Let the cleaning solution soak in for about 10 minutes. (Some websites say that using Simple Green to wash the DRY filter is fine - this is what I'd do, but use at your own risk)
  3. Rinse the filter from the clean side of the filter to the dirty side. Repeat spraying and rinsing until the water is clear. Since media will be stained, it will not be completely white and may still appear dirty.
  4. DO NOT USE A HIGH PRESSURE WATER NOZZLE when rinsing the filter.
  5. Let the filter air-dry. DO NOT USE COMPRESSED AIR TO DRY THE FILTER! It may take a couple of hours for a ProDryS to 12 to 24 hours for a Pro5R depending on humidity and temperature.

Lou, post #1 says the filter is FIVE layers whereas your post in #13 says that the filter is TWO layers. I just wanted to verify which it is before purchasing. Thanks.

That's the thing... I've found a lot of the "better flow etc." claims come at the sacrifice of filtering ability.

That's why I'm personally not switching to any filter besides OEM replacement until one of thew manufacturers can give me some hard data for apples to apples comparison besides "better filtration and more flow than OEM". That just doesn't sound right that it can give you both. If it can, fantastic and I'll be the first to buy. But I don't believe it until someone has test data.

On driver I read these type of filters are not good in th long run. And oem or wix filters flow just as effective or even better and still filter much better.

It was also noted that Motordyne himself did the testing.
