UNV, what was the exact set up you had when you did that video for us?
Looking at the exhaust depo website, the G37 has three items:

(1) Axel Back System
(2) Y-Pipe
(3) True dual Catback system with X-Pipe

From what I understand the X pipe gives more torque than a Y pipe??

And I think I already know the answer to this but would adding an after market x or y pipe interfere with passing smog?

No smog issues at all. It is behind the cats so if the cats are good, you should have no smog issues.

Where can we get this JIC y pipe
Looks like a great sustitute for the hard to get! Backordered Tanabe y pipe! This may be a great substitute for the Y pipe since I found the Tanabe Center pipe to go w my Medallion mufflers.

Outperformance Shop - JIC-Magic CKV37Y-SU 2008+ Infiniti G37 Coupe Y-Pipe VQ37VHR

In my opinion it's way too pricey when there are so many other cheaper options on the market now like M2, OBX, exhaust depot, Megan, Ichiba, Kakumei etc..

They don't make these anymore, but the quality comparing the JIC's to the rest of the cheaper brand is like comparing apples to oranges. One way of comparing any exhaust is the welds, bends and how its prepped inside by the flanges.
