Review Takeda Cat Back Exhaust on 2011 G37s Vert
Takeda Cat Back Exhaust on 2011 G37s Vert
I have a 2011 G37s Vert, I had been looking around for a clean sounding, non raspy, not too obvious in your face after-market looking exhaust. I saw the youtube clip from Takeda and liked the sound. I know some exhaust systems that fit the coupe, may or may not fit the vert. So I decided to take one for the team. I paid $930 total including shipping on Autoplicity.com Heres my quick review with pics:
Pros: Sounds deep, not too raspy, subtle at idle, and no drone at all. The welds are very clean, the tips nice, they stick out a bit more than stock, but they look good.
As far as power goes, it definitely feels stronger pulling off the line and you can feel it in the acceleration. The exhaust does look really clean installed. Installing on a coupe would be very easy...
Cons: Does not fit the convertible without modification. (Not the company's fault, it does say the exhaust is for the coupe) The rear cross brace, that is only on the convertibles, from the drivers-side to behind the rear axle was directly in the way of the left exhaust. In the third picture you can see the exhaust routes around the passenger side brace, but the drivers side had to be removed. So rather than paying a 15% restocking fee and shipping, I took it to a local stainless steel exhaust system guy to see what he could do for me. He was able to make a custom pipe for me, routing it around the cross brace.
He also replaced all of the straps that came with the Takeda, with some heavier duty ones; the straps that came with it were a bit cheap and didn't seal around the pipes too well. It cost me $300 for the custom pipe and straps.
So overall for $1230, I am happy with the system on my vert, and I know I probably am going to be the only one with a Takeda Catback Exhaust on a convertible

Ok...got a little video clip of the exhaust. I had to start the video at idle...since my battery died...detailing the car with radio on for 45 minutes kills the battery I guess.
