2.75" SRI, tune needed?
2.75" SRI, tune needed?
Whats good, y'all! First time G owner as of 2 weeks ago (2013 blue slate X, 70k miles) and first post on the forum!
Apologies if this is a dumb question as im relatively new to everything!
Long story short; The previous owner put these HPS 2.75" intakes on, you reckon it'd need a tune? After doing some googling and parsing through here, I see some saying that they're running lean with similar diameter setups and other saying you only need a tune at 3". I cant seem to find a definitive answer, so I'd figured id ask here more directly! I can almost guarantee the previous owner wouldn't have done it if needed, as the only other things done to the car are smoked tail lights and a surely REAL carbon duckbill
. Hasn't thrown any codes yet and don't have any real cause for concern afaik, but I don't know what oem ride feel is like so i have no real frame of reference! Would just like some opinions sooner than later as i want to keep this car running as long as humanly possible and hit the occasional WOT with a clear conscious!
After getting a more thorough inspection done of the vehicle, I'd like to get HFC's and eventually a full setup, which is when id ideally get the proper tune done!
*edit: just realized i didnt post this in intake/exhaust.... RIP*

Tune is not needed with a SRI.
Personally, I would put the OEM cold air intake on the car (found for cheap used) with silicon tubes and K&N drop ins then sell the SRI unless you are attached to it for esthetic reasons. Then focus on getting your arms around the routine maintenance and acquisition of a nice catback exhaust as its the best performance mod for the car.
