hello, took the car to the dealership and it ended in them discovering a leaking hose for the coolant, was wondering if i could get help with the specific part need to for this repair, as the dealership is asking for 1700 to get it done ( they're also replacing the thermostat and radiator cap).
Obviously I'm trying to save money and a family friend is willing to do it if i can bring the parts, but I'm having trouble finding the specific hose for this repair, any help is appreciated. Im a noob with cars so sorry of its an easy find.

Unless you plan to change the coolant and hoses, don't mess with the thermostat now. If you do plan to change the coolant, let us know and we can point you to more DIYs.
yea its passenger side heater, they guy doing the work said he was gonna drain the coolant.
Z1 motors only has a plastic connector but yea thanks for the help

It's a little hose connector which costs basically nothing and can be replaced in minutes. Well, with the right tools. Without the right tools or DIY skills, it can be a nightmare, LOL.
If you're going to flush the coolant, then that's a fine time to replace the thermostat. Otherwise, wait until the next flush & fill.

Agree. This seems extreme, even in the post COVID 35% inflation world. @heri Can you snap a pic of what they recommended for $1700? Note that many change that coupler and don't bleed the air out, and have had no issues. Personally, I'd bleed the air with a spill free funnel.
You don't need Z1 for a coupler as the METAL (stay away from the OEM plastic) 3/4" to 3/4" hose couplers are plentiful around town. I bought this was at Autozone: https://www.autozone.com/fittings-an...tor/439346_0_0
Home Depot, Lowes, NAPA will also have them in stock. Warning, those 10+ year old spring clamps are a PITA to move/remove and may break when you remove the hose. I used worm clamps on this connection as they made the work 10x more straight forward. Many months later and I have not seen a drop of coolant. Pinch pliers will help prevent little pieces of that plastic coupler from falling inside the coolant system. When I eventually got mine out, I reassembled the pieces of the old one to make sure I had not dropped anything in the system.
I recommended the radiator cap because most do not understand its complexity and fail to replace it at the required intervals. Super easy, cheap insurance. You can buy this at Autozone or NAPA as well vs. waiting 2 weeks to receive one from Z1.
This is a great weekend project that will help you build confidence in your DIY skills. Took me a couple of hours and some bloody knuckles, but I am OCD and alot slower than some of the others here.

Yea i bought a metal one from amazon, i also did get the radiator cap, thanks to your previous recommendation
But yea the family friend helping me out is an actual mechanic so everything should go smoothly XD..

You are in San Diego? Is Robin or Gonzo your advisor? What other services are they offering? Are you Military, Pendleton or 32nd street? I worked with Robin when she was at Kearny Mesa Infiniti, back in my G35 days. Gonzo is new to Infiniti, but a good guy, This location is expensive, but they aren't crooks. I recently paid $277 out the door for a transmission fluid exchange with 12 quarts of Matic-S fluid. 2 hour job. Not crazy. $1750 is crazy for a drain and fill with a thermostat and heater hose coupler replacement.

Mine blew out at intersection on the same day as yours was discovered. I'm in Atlanta and it ran for maybe 20 seconds getting off the highway. I just had surgery so I couldn't change it but paid $250 including parts and coolant. Thank you for bringing it up and obviously I'm new here but this is great. Just wish I could figure out the thickness of my 08 G37X Sedan brake pads, front and back. Thank you.
