09 vert auto. New starter is making weird noises about 1:8 times I start it. Can't tell if grinding or a labored whine noise or something. Do I have bad teeth on the flywheel? I read somewhere this platform might have a relay issue that could cause this, or maybe even dirty MAF sensors? I hasn't failed to start YET, but it's my understanding the starter is new.

I'm taking the car to a shop soon anyway for a full brake job and alignment and I need to know what to tell them about the starter problem.

Sounds like you have the wrong starter. Might need to compare old with new. I had the same problem with different vehicle . One was American and the other was Korea made. Same part
