Should I boost? All opinions accepted
My FI TT got up to 542whp on stock internals with no reliability issues. The shop that did the work noted that they were limited by the stock MAF sensors and the 650cc fuel injectors. If I bought some aftermarket MAF sensors and switched to IDEX 1000cc injectors they could've pushed another 50-100 horses, still on the stock internals. The reason I chose to build another is because you don't see many boosted G's and it's a surprisingly solid platform. I suppose it makes sense since these were the prototypes for the R35. Even as I step into a new G, it's so.....easy to enjoy it. I know there are guys who did single turbo builds but TT kits deliver power in such a linear fashion that you almost don't notice the lag. It's a world of difference from the massive kick you feel in 500+whp 4-cylinders.
You'll enjoy it if you go that route.
I agree that you sound like the type of guy who enjoys a project. So either way you go, enjoy the journey.

Since you already have a daily then turbo the G for sure. It'll be faster to complete and possibly a bit cheaper in the long run in comparison to an IROC and much more comfortable
I suggest you do some more research, mainly realistic research as these cars break the common knowledge. We are now seeing a reliable 500whp, an average of 600+whp for those with the supporting drive train mods and a couple in the 700s all rocking a stock block.
The lower compression for boost myth is seeing another light, back in the day computers and tuning just could not keep up which an 8:1 compression would be forgiving enough. Today WE HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY(
). The only time you would realistically need to forge the internals is if you're aiming for even higher numbers which speaks in lengths about the capability of these engines. This means you'll have a baby GTR.
Overall if finances align boosting the G platform is one cheap way of going fast. This is why the G/Z chassis is now the New 240sx, tech wise this car is up there with Germans and boosted puts you in the class of boosted/luxury.

Oh sheesh! its been a long time since I've posted here. I believe 3 months later from my original post I bought the turbo kit. Boy was i in for a rude awakening. lol. i think i argued with another guy on a post... talking about how cheap i could put a turbo together etc..... Well here I am.. a year and 9 months after i purchased the turbo kit and im "just" about to finish it lol. Sure.. time was mostly the issue. Long work hours and not enough horus to work on it. Thankfully my GF cheated on me so I've been single for like 6 months so thats about how long i've been working on it lol. It did take about 6-10 months for me to recieve the turbo kit.. but still it should have been done by now and thats my fault lol.... So far im over 20k in my build and my 2nd engine isnt even built yet lol. If anyone is interested i can let you guys know what i purchased and where im at in my build so far. can provide pictures as well. Im not upset though. thos car is going to be amazing and it beats buying another car and having a payment. Ive realized how much I didnt know .. owning 2 cars that were turbo stock and then building from that is completely different than turbowing an n/a car. sheesh!
