Boost by gear/speed & boost controllers

For my boosted folks out there. Which boost Controller did you go with? Does it support boost by gear/speed/rpm? I read on ecutek website that it supports boost control. Anyone has any experience with this?

I have the AEM Tru-Boost it's pretty reliable and not too expensive. The only drawback is that it is not boost by gear/speed. I've been looking at the TurboSmart E-Boost2 that is a boost by gear/speed application and it has pretty good feedback.

Waist of money when you could Dump Uprev and apply Ecutek instead which controls the amount of boost via the ECU instead of using a Boost controller.

Yeah i read that ecutek can control boost which may be able to eliminate the need of another boost controller but there isn't much info on it. I sent an email to John at Visconti tuning and I'm waiting for a response. I should email seb at specialty z also. If this works then I'd get a reg afr gauge instead of the innovate boost controller and afr dual function gauge

Doubt if it would work because your ECU does not see boost unless you have a GTR or Juke which is factory boosted.

Simple fix. Upgrade the map sensor from a 2 bar to a 4 bar. The oem juke or gtr map sensor works seemlessly. The factory map sensor is good for about 12-14 lbs tho.

If you can achieve what you want via a ECU flash then I would go that route. On my track car I use an apexi avc-r. I got it mainly for the boost by gear feature and it works flawlessly once you dial everything in.

Having a scramble boost button is fun too, not going to lie. It's like having a power burst on demand. Great for straights.

Yeah I don't really understand scramble boost. I tried grasping the concept via mighty car mods and on turbosmart eboost 2 you tube page and I ask haven't caught the concept

Highly simplified you can run a momentary switch to the avc-r that when pressed will start up a predetermined (set by the user) timed boost increase. I, for example, typically run 1 bar of boost, my scramble is set to 1.3bar for 10 seconds so when i hit the button the controller allows that setting to occur. Like I said, I use it for straights when traction isn't an issue and I could use the extra push. I'm not sure (and honestly never tried) but it may also be setup for a lower setting as well, I can imagine a few auto-x situations that would be nice; but don't quote me on that.

As always: make sure your tune and engine can handle your boost. I would not recommend overboosting with unsafe fuel mixtures.

I got the innovate AFR/boost controller dual gauge. I spoke to seb at specialty Z and he hasn't finished testing the boost by gear feature for ECUTEK on the VQ37vhr platform. Until then. This'll do the job
