K&N Air filters

Hey so I was thinking about getting K&N air filters because they can slightly increase performance and throttle response. The only thing that concerns me is that these filters are oiled and can possibly damage the MAF sensors if improperly oiled. Is the trade off of slight extra performance worth the risk of damaging your MAF sensors? I just want better filters for my g37 because the Oem ones are a little restrictive of airflow. If anyone has K&N filters and would share their opinions on it would be appreciated 😁

I just installed the K&N typhoon intake system which replaces the stock system on my 09 g37x and it sounds great and a much better throttle response for about $400 total and well worth it, also had cleaned the MAF sensors and throttle bodies prior to that install. Big difference even with the stock exhaust still on the car. As for the K&N drop-in filters, I have heard nothing but good things but the high air flow with the typhoon system seems excellent in my opinion and the increase in HP is recognized most in 3rd and 4th gear it seems to me.

Just don't go crazy with oiling the filters, do as K&N recommends when that time comes and if you use only premium 93 octane in the car, shouldn't be much of a concern there.

I have the K&N drop in filters, at first I did oil it a little too much and it did leak out of the sides of the air box but it did not go all the way to the back of the MAF sensor. But, if the oil is your main concern I would suggest you get the oil spray in the can. I used the oil from the bottle where I had to put it on each high point on the air filter. But if you use the can you are less likely to have the issue that I had with over saturating the filter.
